Return of the arrogant moron - Chesney
so there I am last night on the tube going to the game.
I picked up the Standard and there was our great goalie boasting about how we would challenge for the title next season.
thought then he was getting a bit cocky.
I was sat in the clock end and Chesney gets a standing ovation just before kick off as he runs back to his line.
7 minutes gone and the disaster waiting to happen - Confusion with the defence and Chesney tries to kick a ball - oh dear, as we all know that he can't. somehow he manages to kick it BACKWARDS to a Wigan player -1-0
1 minute later a breakaway and Wigan cross a ball in - nice easy catch for the Pole, but oh no he fumbles it and they score 2-0 GAME OVER
I was coming round to him after some decent displays, gave him the benefit of doubt against QPR but last night he was a joke. you can't blame Wenger for those 2 goals, he is not paid to catch balls.
so that is 3rd place gone - was on here yesterday trying to shut people up for laughing at Spurs. luckily we will face a tired Chelsea team, but that is now a must win. Tough times ahead..

I thought the same thing last night. I just wish he would shutup. I do like him, and I do believe he is our best GK, but he is far from perfect. That is ok, but when he talks, he needs to back it up. I don't know why he needs to be so vocal. It's one thing to say you have faith but it will be hardwork, it's another to be too cocky and make it sound as if you're going to take it with ease.Red Member wrote:so there I am last night on the tube going to the game.

Re: Return of the arrogant moron
So Red, what are you suggesting for the remaining games ?
Does the arrogant moron keep his place in the team, or........

Re: Return of the arrogant moron
Nothing about Sagna getting done up like a kipper for the second goal by Moses then.Nothing about Walcott Song Santos and Ramsey who were shite.Nothing about Wenger being unable to motivate his team again against a relegation threatend team.No its all down to Szczesny

Wow dont know if you have the game recorded on Sky but take a really good look at both Wigan goals and Scez did all he could.
Our defence was ripped apart and the second goal from that close he had no chance. I love his arrogance its screams of somebody wanting to win. It took years to replace Seaman and we finally have a very young but very gifted winning goalkeeper.

Red might be an idea to post the article so people can make up their own opinions? Please tell me which of his quotes come across as cocky?

I read this last night also and personally i dont think he comes across cocky in it at all and just states what is known, that if we can take our momentum from the end of this season into the start of next then we have a chance of challenging as we will have improved on the start we had this season? Mentions the atmosphere within the squad has improved, that the sp*rs game was a turning point and that a settled back four has helped our form. All stuff that many people have been saying on this very forum.

Re: Return of the arrogant moron
got to keep him in I think - this team needs consistency. priority buy for the summer though is to buy an experienced keeper as either first choice or to put a bit of pressure on Chesney.
I admit that a problem last night was that he had a gormless imbecile walking around in front of him.
ok I have defended Djourou in recent weeks but last night he was back to his old self - rubbish. maybe if we buy another CB and he is 5th choice next season then that would be ok but he isnt any better than that.
He has now been on the pitch for SEVEN of our 10 league defeats this season - that is not coincidence

Re: Return of the arrogant moron
This thread doesn't give the sole blame to Szczesny, it's just he has quite a big mouth. The 1st balme lies with Wenger, and then with the poor performance of the team, especially that of Ramsey and Santos, as well as poor performance from many others. Even RvP needs a kick up the arse, although he can't do too much with no one feeding him the ball. There were some great opportunities to feed an overhead pass to either him or Walcott, but Ramsey never sees those opportunities, or he's too scared to take them. Who knows? But changes need to be made for this weekend, and it will be good to get Kos and Gibbs back. Hopefully Szczesney keeps his mouth shut for this one and worries more about what happens in the match.donaldo wrote:Nothing about Sagna getting done up like a kipper for the second goal by Moses then.Nothing about Walcott Song Santos and Ramsey who were shite.Nothing about Wenger being unable to motivate his team again against a relegation threatend team.No its all down to Szczesny
Re: Return of the arrogant moron
He was on Arse.com after the City game talking about finishing in second place
, which I thought was slightly premature seeing as we haven't even secured top four yet

Re: Return of the arrogant moron
dont need to watch it on TV - I was sat a few feet from him in the clock end - he dropped the ball. End of. TV camera angles might have shown otherwise.supergeorgegraham wrote:Wow dont know if you have the game recorded on Sky but take a really good look at both Wigan goals and Scez did all he could.

Re: Return of the arrogant moron
why are people moaning about Santos still?
I dont think he has yet made a defensive mistake. all the goals and threats as usual came from the right hand side and when you have Djourou and chesney waiting in the middle then there is a problem

Re: Return of the arrogant moron
For me, it's not that I don't think he does everything he can in every match. Last night was all about a non-existing defense. Whilst some cockiness is good, I don't like reading articles that are overconfident and start talking about taking 2nd when we haven't even secure 3rd yet. There is still a lot of football to be played and we need to focus on us and no one else.Red Member wrote:dont need to watch it on TV - I was sat a few feet from him in the clock end - he dropped the ball. Re: Return of the arrogant moron
I will defend Chesney to a certain extent - he did make one outstanding save last night.
trouble is had already let 2 goals in. he is as I have said before a work in progress. whether he ever becomes a great goalkeeper is debatable.
