Return of the arrogant moron - Chesney

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

I dont think he has yet made a defensive mistake. all the goals and threats as usual came from the right hand side and when you have Djourou and chesney waiting in the middle then there is a problem
He doesn't defend and when going forward, he holds the ball too long or tries to be too fancy at times and looses possession. When he does cross, it's usually pretty good, but it's not often enough. I do think his injury set him back, and I expect to see a much better Santos next season.

Whilst some cockiness is good, I don't like reading articles that are overconfident and start talking about taking 2nd when we haven't even secure 3rd yet. There is still a lot of football to be played and we need to focus on us and no one else.
Surely as a footballer you want to concentrate on catching whatever team is above you in the league rather than looking over your shoulder and thinking that a team behind you can catch you followign a defeat? I know thats the way I look at at it anyway, the only team that should worry about who is behind them is the team that is in 1st and even then they should be concentrating on extending their lead and not worrying about what teams below them are doing.

True, but you can't catch a team in front of you and don't focus on your next match, as coming away with 3 points from that match is the most important thing. If you take it one match at a time, which I feel we were doing when we were 10 points behind Tottenham, then you can focus on performing the best you can and see what happens in the tables. If you think too much about what the team in front of you is doing, then you can lost in what's to come instead focusing on the here and now.

I thought from the thread title that this was about Peter Hill Wood and his comments yesterday. :rubchin: :rubchin:

I then thought it was probably just a thread for Red Member to announce his return to the forum!!

ok I have looked at the 2 goals again. Djourou is perhaps equally to blame. where was he for goal number 1 and he mis timed his tackle for goal number 2. maybe Koscielny has been covering up Chesney's inadequacies though?

I would much rather have an arrogant, cocky goalkeeper playing than the likes of Almunia and Flappyanski who are nervous wrecks!

The boy is still young, take away his arrogance and i think you would have half the player he is.

With a little improvement mainly to his kicking he will be Arsenal's keeper for many years, and for him to say next year we will be challenging is as an Arsenal fan what i want to be hearing from our players.

I agree with most of this apart from the highlighted bit i dont want the players to be talking about challenging, i want them to get on and challenge but there is no need for them to be mouthing off about it especially as we are as fragile as a box of eggs :banghead:

I don't get some of the nit picking with Shezza on here, he already is a fantastic goalkeeper and he has ability that the two clowns behind him can only dream of, one of the two best goalies in the country. He said he wants to be Arsenal keeper for fifteen years or more, if he achieves that and wins trophies along the line (with an ambitious manager) then people will regard him as our best ever keeper and at some point the best keeper in the world.

Fans love his passion, character and his love for the club is displayed every game, I think he's entitled to say things now and then in papers or whatever compared to some of the gutless cocks currently masquerading in our first team.

I'm all for players having an option and a bit of character but this lad is a tad too smug for my liking, just needs to focus on his goal keeping at the moment. It's the same with Frimpong, although I don't think Frimmy is good enough.

Can't believe some people don't like Chesney's "arrogance". I call it character. He wants a laugh, he enjoys playing and he seems to genuinely like being at Arsenal. What's the problem?

Same with Frimpong. When he plays, he puts in 110% and he is a big fan of Arsenal. So what if he has a laugh while doing it? He's injured at the moment, what else has he got to do, eh? :rubchin:
