Too many man u fans down south

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Too many man u fans down south

Post by aalderton »

Why why why do people support man u when they live a couple hundred miles away from old trafford. Sure they win a lot of the time but I just couldn't support them for that reason. I won't lie I don't support my local club but I blame my dad for following the gunners. I will follow arsenal through thick and thin no matter where they finish in the league and whether they win trophies or not. Gooner 4 Life

You could equally ask why do the 90 plus percent of the Arsenal fanbase that the club really care about live in Asia and other countries? :rubchin: :rubchin:

You should visit Dublin, mate. Was about 200 Manure fans here until they won the first couple PL's in the 1990's. Next thing there is 50,000 "die-hard, life-long" Manure fans in the city. Armchair fuckbags 99% of them.

I can understand supporting teams miles away if you don't have a local league team. I've a mate from deepest, darkest Cornwall who supports Liverpool, but if you live in the South East you've plenty of choice.
Family or friends will always play a part. My football mad Grandad made me a Gooner (a lucky escape from my Palace supporting, but not very interested Dad).

Always see the "Manchester Supporters Club" in their tracksuits at away games, funny that since they have Manure nearby but fair play to them, I see what you mean though, mainly just wanting the glory. Live in a mainly West Ham/Arsenal area yet suddenly loads of "life long" Chelsea fans sprung up a few years ago  :banghead:

I never said it was!! I assumed most people of reasonable intelligence would know I meant the continent Asia and wrote it thus for brevity's sake. Or would you have preferred it if I had written: 'live in countries within the continent of Asia and other countries in the continent of The Americas, the continent of Africa, the continent of Europe, the continent of Australia and Oceania, and even the continent of Antarctica - and then go on to name all the individual countries involved? :banghead:

I know that strictly speaking it would have been more accurate and helpful - especially for the hard of thinking - but then again, who are you, my fucking Geography teacher? :banghead:

I think you'll find the issue is not one of geography but one of grammar, thereby requiring the retort, " .... you're not my fucking English teacher!"
Hope that helps.

who cares, we all have our reasons for supporting our own clubs, - i lived in woking for 28 years, and for the last 9 years in Mid Wales, so was never nearer than 20 miles from Arsenal. But have supported Arsenal since 79, does that make me a loyal fan for supporting them for over 30 years or a bad fan because i live 200 miles away

The Americas is not a continent - you mean North and South America, they are two separate continents 8)

I know you youngsters like to dismiss anything pre the second millenium but if you check properly you'll find that ....

North America and South America are treated as separate continents in the seven-continent model. HOWEVER they may also be viewed as a single continent known as America!! :gus: :gus: :gus:
