As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

And as for Quinn he did well for the Arsenal as a player...not a legend for me....but as a pundit, I've never thought him that articulate or knowledgeable. I would say Neville (as much as he was/is a *word censored* as an ex-manc and Beckham loving bum boy, he does 'tell it like it is'.

Hmmm.... he didn't do that well when playing for us, in fact I remember one game at Highbury he came on as a sub and was then subbed off around 20 minutes later.... but I still stand by what I said on the previous page... hope you are well matey...
i statred the thread and have been a ST since 93. im no glory hunter. i have given my ticket away or sold it for 85% of games this season due to lack of enthusiasm to travelling up to london at weekends when i spend the working wek there and at what i see as mismamnagement of thec lcb and contempt of supporters shown by those in charge at all levels at the emirates.
its not sour grapes quinn was sycophantic and has an anti arsenal agenda in my opinion, and it was eveident through his commentary last night and has been in the past. not through criticising the club but through taking such pleasure in seeing us beaten.
smith and merse tell it like it is. they take pleasure when we win and criticise the club as necessary, one thing they do not do is take glee in seeing us lose.

Absolutely not the case (the anti arsenal agenda bit, I've put it in bold but it doesnt really show up!), sounding a bit paranoid there tbh. I've mentioned Arsenal to Quinny before on one of the rare occasions that I've met him and he's been full of praise for them- its right enough that he has certain issues with certain people who are at the club now, he was candid enough about that, but he still cares about Arsenal. Obviously Sunderland is his main love in club football but he has a lot of time for both Arsenal and Man City. Equally a couple of my mates were in Durham a few years back and Quinny was in the pub (no surprise there, he often goes out for pints and mixes with the fans, different class of bloke to most footballers nowadays)- Arsenal were playing in europe and the match was on and Quinny was very much cheering them on, most of the people in the pub were cheering Arsenal as well just because Quinny was. Arsenal won and before he left he got a load of beers in for the lads who were in there and said something along the lines of "great company and a great result, been a good night".
When Quinny was up here saving SAFC he was out chatting to fans all the time, I doubt you'll find any Sunderland fans that he's spoken to who would say that he has a bad word about Arsenal as a club. He obviously enjoyed the match on Monday and maybe got a bit carried away (he'd been working with us and seen how little praise/ attention the clubs who Sky dont see as glamorous get so that probably made him feel pleased for Wigan), but to suggest he has an anti-Arsenal agenda is way, way off the mark mate
I didn't see the Sky coverage as I was at the game, so can't comment on it, but I have to agree with safcftm about Quinny. He's as down to earth as they come and probably just let his enthusiasm for the game run away with itself. I've never seen him less than excited at any game and am sure he'd have appeared just as delighted (probably more so) if we'd won.
The anti-Arsenal stuff is laughable I'm afraid. He adores Arsenal and will always be hugely grateful for the chance we provided to let him play professionally. I remember his debut against Liverpool in 85 (?) when he scored one and made one for Charlie Nicholas. He played that game like he played every one in his career - giving 100% to the cause. We could do with a few like him now eh?
