PFA Player of the Year

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Well done Robin. That'll add a few bucks to your transfer value! ;)

Amazing that on this forum, I keep hearing about all these Amaaazing players Arsenal supposedly have, ya know...Rosicky, Song, Arteta, Santos, Scezney who is the best keeper in the league apparently, and 'best centre-back in the league' Koscielny and the other 'best centre back in the league' Vermaelen...

Hmmm....Yet taking a quick gander at that PFA Team of the Year and what's this I see? Where is Arteta? Rosicky? No news. Song? Where are those two best centre-backs in the league? How is Coloccini there? Don't these pros know that Vermaelen and Kos are the two best in the business! Where is Alex Song? I'm really confused!

One Arsenal player in the PFA Team and he wants out. Oh dear...

Robin is class and deserves a better manager and more ambitious fans. That's for sure...

Have to say that I am very surprised that kos didnt get into the best 11 ahead of coloccini  Kos has been outstanding most of this season and for me is more important in the back 4 than tv5

Well done rvp and it is a richly deserved honour - time now to put a gun to wenger and the people running our club heads and tell them to stump upmoney for proper quality investment worthy of a player of his talents

Don't the PFA vote for this around January? I ask the question but I already know the answer, they do. So given the fact that the vote is cast then and the intelligence of your average footballer it's no surprise to see a few scum players there. They base their votes on August to December even though it's supposed to be the calender year.

The footbal writers award is a better yardstick in my opinion.

Only one United player too. Rooney.

It's a popularity contest and always has been. I wouldn't get your knickers in a twist over it Baba

I agree with your sentiment re Walker. All I can think was that he was in the news for a while back in the Winter when the voting took place (Madrid allegedly after him 'the new Roberto Carlos'!!!) and players didn't want too many City players in (and Sagna was injured).

That's my point. It's not necessarily accurate.

Aguero was shortlisted for player of the year AND young player of the year, so by that logic he should have won young player of the year. Maybe Walker is more popular? or maybe some players considered Aguero too famous or too good or been around too long to win young player of the year?

There's always odd decisions. It's the nature of the beast and the result should be taken with a pinch of salt.

As for United only having one player, and Sp*rs 3, in the team of the year. I'd say that's because they rotate more than Sp*rs, and share responsibility and playing time (apart from Rooney, of course) whereas Parker, Bale and Walker play every single week so get more votes, I guess.

Really? Ok I think I know how this works. PFA award = bollocks (I guess that means RVP can toss his trophy in the bin)

Sportswriters award = the 'real' award.

Even though Scott Parker is the current holder.

LOL

Only one Arsenal player deserves to be in that PFA Team and he's there, his name is RVP. Koscielny is good, but when you're part of a team that leaks more than Paris Hilton, you have no right being in that PFA Team sorry.
