He's at his boyhood club where he is deemed a hero, playing in a league where only two teams are truly competitive. Law of averages, my man. If they don't win the league this year, it isn't exactly unlikely that they'll win it next season. On top of that, they're in their fifth successive Champions League semi-final. That doesn't exactly suggest that they're some "ship that has run aground". Yes, they lost in the first leg. They lost to us in the first leg too, remember? They weren't exactly shrinking violets when we went back to their place.

Just because Real seem to have got the better of them this season doesn't mean that Barcelona is all of a sudden an undesirable place to be. If you think that there is any footballer on the planet, especially Cesc Fabregas, who thinks that Arsenal is a more desirable place to be than Barcelona (which is what you've suggested with the "grass is greener" bit) then you must be mad.

The Arsenal grass (despite our groundsman winning groundsman of the year ) is that dried out yellowy grass that you get in the middle of a heatwave in late August whilst, compared that that, the Barcelona grass is a fucking bowls lawn. Even Stevie Wonder can see that.

Not to get too down on Arsenal, I might add. It's just that Barcelona are far superior to us in every single way

Only time will tell TS, but I firmly believe that Barca have peaked and are now on the decline, and Cesc will not have the success, I'm sure he thought was guaranteed when he joined.
And as for there only being two competitive teams in Spain, I totally agree, however just like in Scotland this usually equates to one of these teams dominating for 4 or 5 seasons at a time, and the team that is being dominated are considered failures.
We will see what happens in the next few weeks, personally I think if the chavs can sneak a goal they will qualify, as unlike us they haven't conceded at home and are much better equipped to defend what they have.
That would leave Barca with only the cup final with bilbao to play for and this won't satisfy their fans.
Guardiola (if he stays) will then have one season to turn it round, and if Mourinho stays at Real, then I don't think he will. Barca will then enter a period of instability, we will then see how much Cesc is deemed a hero.

Although I don't think you are, you could well be right Sid. However, even if that happens, I still think that Cesc will see it as a positive move. Think of it this way, Cesc is at his hometown club and, whether they're winning things or not, you can guarantee that they will be there or thereabouts - something which we rarely are these days. Therefore, where do you think Cesc would rather be, a club that he has no affiliation to who are just going through the motions of getting somewhere between 3rd and 5th place every season, or the club he supported as a boy who are seriously challenging for every fucking competition they go in for? There is no way our grass is greener, mate - no matter which angle you look at it from.
