AKB's

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Btw woy hodgson took over victims fc at an absolutely shocking time - the owners were despised, the fans were pulling against the club as a result, the players were totally frustrated and some left and with the club in such turmoil no quality player was interested in joining them. It was a poisonous chalice and hodgson hadnt a prayer so it should not be viewed as a reflection of his ability or performance
And the difference with us is? :rubchin: :rubchin:

The difference is that we have a policy that excludes the purchasing of proven quality players - in recent seasons most players would have walked across hot coals to play alongside cesc, rvp, jens etc but we chose to buy players from the 2nd or 3rd tier level in the quality shop

augie wrote: My question re eisfeld stands.....where is he ? At that age he is def old enough to be a fisrt team player, he doesnt have an issue with a work permit so why is he nowhere near the matchday squad ? Has anybody seen him ? Is he any good ?
I keep imagining our new recruits being placed on a 5 a side pitch and given strict instructions that the ball mustn't go above head height, that 20 passes (no matter how pointless) must be completed before shooting, and never ever ever should you shoot outside of the 6 yard box! - and until these "skills" have become second nature to them, they will remain locked away at Colney Creche (copyright Myles Palmer) and far away from the match day squad :(

So I'd say, until Eisfeld has been moulded into an 'Arsenal player' he won't see the light of day, mate.

'extremely insulting' seriously dude - you need to get out more
actually scratch that - just stay in read a bit more of this board
extremely insulting indeed
doofus
there you go, thats a pathetic primary skool filter proof insult and is still waaay more insulting
Gunnerz4life wrote:It can be also said that if Ferguson came to Arsenal before GG and Wenger, he would have eclipsed both their records by a distance.
I think given more money than every other team in the league Fergie has demonstrated he is the best
if he can win the league this year it will be the first time he's beaten someone who is, at that time, outspending him

Mourinho is a good big cash short-term manager - hasn't shown he can do the generational reboots Meatface has achieved
SteveO 35 wrote:But Moyes didn't go to Everton in '96 either so what is the point of that argument?
the point is if Wenger picked Toffees ahead of Gunners
and they stuck with him
they would have been the team who gets through the CL groups every year
challenges consistently but only wins things with their peak sides

you post some funny shit jd

where is your proof of this? arsenal were a richer club in '96, with Dein at the helm, and he inherited a MUCH better squad than what was at everton back then too. whats this got to do with everton anyway? we're a much bigger club than them anyway...

I take your point but I don't agree that it is a given he would have achieved that. It’s a different club, with different expectations and ambitions, different chairman and board and a very different inherited playing staff. The manager’s interaction with the chairman and board is vital and can determine not only the length of tenure but the success achieved too. There is simply no telling what might have been.

You don't have to look too far back, just see the United squad of last season that won the league and reached the CL final and compare that with what Citeh Chavs and the victims had spent.
