BARCA V CHAVS

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Yeah, I thought that was a bit heartless really  I doubt he meant it to come across like that though.

This might escape your attention, but even if a keeper saves a penalty, it's still referred to as a 'missed penalty'.
Please though, I am enjoying the playground 'You're a Spud' barbs. The true sign of an intellectual philistine indeed. If that's the best you can come up with, keep it coming please....ha ha ha

Wenger's record is no better than Avram Grant's in fact...

Still chaps. Keep fapping away to royal lord Wenger and his 4th place trophies...oh how I'll laugh if the Chavs win the thing after we finish 4th.

Complete ignore the fact this Chelsea squad has been assembled with ridiculous sums of money

This wasn't a tactical masterclass from Matteo. Chelsea were fortunate tonight
and were throughout the whole tie. I think they summoned only 4 attempts on target over both legs and converted 3 of them. Whilst Barca hit the woodwork 4 times and missed some absolute sitters. I would say their success was more down to sheer hard work and luck rather than managerial brilliance.
Typical lack of class and grace. Spoken like Arsene's true master.

Uh huh. Unlike Arsenal, bet you were saying that about us when we made the CL final after Riquelme missed that pen eh? And what is this money nonsense? Citeh's squad cost far more and got knocked out first round. Arsenal's wage bill is over 25% higher than AC Milan and Arsenal were trounced in Milan. Money excuses are pathetic!

Ooooh it was all luck. Must explain why papa Wenger went to the Nou Camp a year ago and managed a new CL record ZERO shots on or off target. I was led to believe that Chelski scored not once, but TWICE form open play? As opposed to relying on jammy own-goals from corners?

What was that about luck again? Quite bitter really...
Lack of class and grace, from you, really?

Funny how you're praising Di Matteo for Chelsea's performance tonight even though we employed almost an identical tactic last year. I suppose though, Robin's dismissal was all down to the lack of tactical ability displayed by Mr Wenger?

Money nonsense? I'm sure every Chelsea fan will agree with you.
What is it with basic intelligence of teenage Arsenal fans?

Di Matteo v Wenger and their 'identical tactics'.

1. Di Matteo keeps it compact, and despite having a man sent off far earlier than Arsenal did, actually manages to score not one, but Two goals from open play.

2. Di Matteo wins the tie overall and qualifies. Arsenal go out.

3. Arsenal do not manage a single shot on or off goal. Di Matteo manages to get Chelski to score twice from open play at the Nou Camp.

And if you want to talk about lack of tactical ability, isn't it curious that this excuse is being used as the reason for our exit (errrm...even though Chelski managed a result with 10 men also)...completely overlooks that Wenger got it so horribly wrong that night that his players dropped deep initially....errrrr but then decided to go press the ball in the final 30 yards, meaning all shape was lost and that is how Xavi got through for his goal.

Yep. One manager got a result, defended better, and played with a disadvantage for longer.

Try all you might to discredit what Di Matteo did, it further highlights what an epic retard Wenger is.

Arsenal under Wenger ain't capable of putting out a tactical plan (which includes keeping a clean sheet at home).

No matter how much hilarious guff the Arsene acolytes come out with.

Apologies I haven't read all posts but if the Chavs win the C.L. before us then they shud say and send a big thank you to Wenger, especially when you think of all the great Arsenal sides that SHUD have won this, the 99 team and 2002-2004 teams in particular, it's nothing short of a disgrace imo, and shud be written on Wenger's epitaph alongside his distant honours!

Again, arithmetic fails you.

Pep Guardiola record in past 4 seasons:

2 CL trophies
3 La Liga titles
2 Copas del Rey
2 World CLub championships
Is it 3 Spanish supercups

Not bad for a manager with 'no plan B'.

Did he also lack a plan B all those times he embarrassed deity Wenger?

Now let's give Arsene the benefit of the doubt and go back..ooooh I dunno...say 5,6 years?

Arsene Wenger: sod all.
Nada.
Nothing.

I'll take Guardiola's lack of plan B (and those trophies) anytime thank you very much.

Funny how people like you wait for Pep to lose a semi-final, to come out with such tripe.

How did Wenger's plan B work out in Milan then? Or at QPR? In fact, did his plan A not get demolished at Old Trafford?
And did Swansea not terrorize him at his plan A too!

Oooh. Ok so we've established Arsene doesn't even have a plan A.

So to answer your rather idiotic question, I'll take Pep's plan A, over Wenger's lack of any plan (and any trophies at all), all day long thanks.

Where are all the plebs who chastised me back in November, when I claimed Spuds would finish miles ahead of us?
Any cream with that humble pie?

Barcawhores - Got what they deserved. When you miss the number of chances they have over the 2 legs, you deserve to go out, when you can't open up a defense playing at home against 10 men for over an hour against a team who had lost both their first choice centrebacks, you deserve to go out. Apart from the penalty dont think they created a chance in the second half. With Messi woefully out of form, they missed Villa last night. Also their defense is shambles, got caught out like school kids last night and against Madrid. Packing the team with mid fielders with no quality back up striker or a centreback have backfired this season for Guardiola.

Chavs - Credit to where its due, it was one hell of an effort. They deserved it over the 2 legs. Yes they have been lucky with the chances that the whores have missed and number of times they hit the woodwork, but overall the Chavs had a game plan and they executed it brilliantly. RDM was spot on with the substitutions and they defended brilliantly with 10 men and without Terry and Cahill. I pray that Madrid/Bayern thrash them in the finals specially with Terry and Ramires (their best player over the 2 legs) out, but it just seems to be the Chav's CL this year

Spot on Frank

Wenger's record in Europe is pathetic. One final the same as Grant and DiMatteo and only twice getting passed the QF in 15 attempts.

The following morning and I am still like an absolute anti-christ over that result  I cannot understand how anybody can so easily write off the chavs in the final when they have battled successfully against superior teams when they looked dead and buried - yes they were lucky at times but every team needs luck along the way. I know people will point to all the players that they are missing for the final but most non Arsenal fans gave us a prayer in copenhagen facing a parma side contining zola, asprilla, brolin and others esp with us missing the suspended wrighty but we overcame the odds and you should never underestimate the power of pure grit and determination and it is a lesson that should be learned by players in our club

How there are so many Gooners so flippant about last night is beyond me - I dont care how much some of you hate barca cos surely your hatred of a domestic rival, especially one containing a pikey racist, a fat pie eating c**t and a judas rent boy, should be the sentiment of the day

Indeed. I can't fucking wait for the Chelsea wankfest in today's media :banghead:

Also, how will this affect the way Chelsea look at their run in do you think? Will they pretty much give up on achieving 4th & put all their energy into winning in Munich? This could see them resting players in the league, handing something of an advantage to Newcastle...

I think you'll find that the people writing off the Chavs are the same under-16s that were mocking me for saying they were through after the home leg, too lazy to analyze outcomes for themselves and bowled over by the Messi loving media. 63 goals.....how many over the two legs of the CL semi-final and the El Classico match....oh yes, zero.

I'm glad you brought up the Arsenal team that beat Parma under GG because as any of us that have grown hair in funny places will appreciate, the outcome of a football match is not decided on paper or in betting shops, nor is it determined by the total number of shots, corners or possession percentage. After the first half an hour of both legs Barcelona were utterly predictable and Chelsea had them sussed just like Mourinho's Inter team did 2 years ago. Show the wide men down the outside because there is nobody to aim at in the box and string 9 players in two lines in front of the penalty area.

Chelsea have every chance now. I still think they will lose and I will be gutted if they win it.....but I can live with the mocking and gloating of the Chavs if the by-product is that the utterly hopeless and inept owners and exec team at Arsenal have their business plan well and truly fucked by loss of income in the CL resulting in wholesale change at the top. In fact, I welcome it
