BARCA V CHAVS

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Doesnt matter that they parked the bus they won and winning is all that matters. If we had done exactly as the chavs did last night down to 10 men, 2-0 down, against the best team the world has ever witnessed  according to pundits and fans alike it would go down as one of the most historic nights in our history. I hated every minute of it and hope the chavs get stuffed in the final but you have to give them credit for last night :(
Well quite. After Alan Smith scored against Parma, we parked the bus, won the CWC and as I danced with delight should I have really been thinking "well that wasn't very pretty to watch, I wish Parma had won because they play with more flair"

People seem to forget that pre-Wenger (yes there really was a club called Arsenal before 1996) we took great delight in "boring boring Arsenal" and "1-0 to the Arsenal" when we were sticking one on so called superior sides. Now of course we prefer the moral high ground of lovely sideways passing and an empty cabinet
That 1994 Arsenal team was led by (we know now) alcoholics/junkies/gamblers...not by £50 million players, expensive overseas signings, or England "legends"

The last time I saw game similar to last night's was when we played Orient away in FA cup. 900 passes vs 150 passes, 1:1 scoreline. The difference is, Orient team cost about 2000 times less than Chelsea's. So when all this public wankfest about Chavs heroism/brilliance/class is over, fact will remain that they went into a final by playing most negative football seen in godknowshowmany years.

True, but I doubt that fact will bother them, and why should it?

History will only show that they got to the final. How they got there is irrelevant.

Since we won the FA cup in 2005 maybe. Did you celebrate that win or were we too negative for you.

And yep and as I remember it rightly, when the public wankfest was over, the fact remained that we won a final by playing the most negative football seen in godknowshowmany years. The record books have just wiped out the victory and all it says is 'result null and void owing to negative football'

The point is not that Chelsea fans should not be happy with their win, ofcourse they should. I would be fucking delirious if that were us. The point (unless I have misunderstood) is that the general public is going overboard with it, a text on the BBC i read last night said "I dont even like chelsea but I was dancing around my garden when Torres scored".. What the fuck is that?

Incredible finish from Ramires, fair play to them. Second half with 10 men they camped their 18 yard box with a back 5 and a bank of 4 in the same way that a well-drilled Championship side could do. Again, fair play to them (I would expect the same of any team down to 10 men with no recognised centre halfs) but the bottom line is that Barca ran out of puff in that second half and have in all honesty looked rather iffy and toothless (bar Messi) all season. If that game were played 12 months ago Chelsea would have come away with a right dicking, I'm sure of that.

People must be reading every media source other than the ones I've read then. I have read three respectable newspaper accounts of their win today and all of them acknowledge how lucky Chelsea were over the two legs

If a few pricks are tweeting about their heroics or the Sun are running some sort of hero worship headline then just ignore it

Even the Evening Standard, a London newspaper, was quick to acknowledge how much of a role luck played.

The fact is that Arsenal under Wenger will never win a game in the Nou Camp because we would never have the defensive discipline to do it

We were crap, but we won the cup  :barscarf: Chavs haven't won anything yet. That surely is big difference.

...somewhat interesting stats from 2005 FA cup final...

Arsenal - Manchester United
0 - 0

Total shots
5 - 20

Shots on target
1 - 8

Ball possession
55% - 45% :?: :barscarf:

Slightly offtopic but

http://www.thedailymash.co.uk/sport/spo ... 204255161/
Bill McKay, added: "I'm a Chelsea fan because I like talking about fights I've never actually had. But at the same time I do quite like football, so I'm feeling conflicted.

"Though not as conflicted as when this fucking Gooner came at me with a sword."

Hope Chelski win it, after Newcastle pip us to 3rd place. It will teach Wenger and the flippant board one helluva lesson there. It's hilarious reading people saying 'Oh all Chelski did was park the bus, any well-drilled Championship side could do that.'

Uh huh.

Apart from any side managed by Wenger. If it's so easy to do, why were we smashed by Barca last year, the year before that and...errr..oh yeah 8-2 at Old Trafford!

Chelski are mercenary scum but no matter what we say or think about them, what does it say about the type of disgusting putrid mercenaries stinking it out at Arsenal, when pay-cheque footballers like Cashley, Mikel, Bosingwa, Meireles and Fat Frank can dig in, show grit, steel and a refusal to buckle, in the face of all adversity?

For all the idiotic glating about 'the Arsenal way', the fact is, that inside this club here at present, there is only one player with the balls and mental fortitude to go out there and perform with that determination and that player is Van Persie. Koscielny might make it there someday but not quite yet. And that one player, as expected, wants out!

Our club has no values and no players with pride in the shirt, it's populated by workshy mercenaries who think they are better than they are. For instance, could you ever imagine braindead Alex Song putting in the type of disciplined defensive performance required, positionally, to stem a side like Barca?

Very intelligent riposte sire, you sound very clever

'You're a Spud'

'You're a Chav'

Wow. Home schooling clearly doesn't work...
