That 1994 Arsenal team was led by (we know now) alcoholics/junkies/gamblers...not by £50 million players, expensive overseas signings, or England "legends"SteveO 35 wrote:Well quite. After Alan Smith scored against Parma, we parked the bus, won the CWC and as I danced with delight should I have really been thinking "well that wasn't very pretty to watch, I wish Parma had won because they play with more flair"flash gunner wrote:Doesnt matter that they parked the bus they won and winning is all that matters. If we had done exactly as the chavs did last night down to 10 men, 2-0 down, against the best team the world has ever witnessedskipper wrote:The only good thing that will come out of Chavs win last night...from now on, every time team decides to park the bus and dfend with 11 men in their own half for entire 90/180 minutes will be known as "doing Chelsea"according to pundits and fans alike it would go down as one of the most historic nights in our history. I hated every minute of it and hope the chavs get stuffed in the final but you have to give them credit for last night
People seem to forget that pre-Wenger (yes there really was a club called Arsenal before 1996) we took great delight in "boring boring Arsenal" and "1-0 to the Arsenal" when we were sticking one on so called superior sides. Now of course we prefer the moral high ground of lovely sideways passing and an empty cabinet
The last time I saw game similar to last night's was when we played Orient away in FA cup. 900 passes vs 150 passes, 1:1 scoreline. The difference is, Orient team cost about 2000 times less than Chelsea's. So when all this public wankfest about Chavs heroism/brilliance/class is over, fact will remain that they went into a final by playing most negative football seen in godknowshowmany years.
