BARCA V CHAVS

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

I'm just a little bit impressed that you managed to resist the temptation to go the whole hog and suggest my argument was that a championship side could beat barcelona. It must have been tempting. But no, what I am saying is that 45 minutes of the 180 minute tie could be quite plausibly achieved by a championship side.

Chelsea carried a threat first half and scored a brilliant goal which ultimately settled the tie and im not saying a championship would have done that.

I dont know if you watched it but what I saw in that second half was 9 men camped and defending space on their 18 yard box, barely having to move. It doesn't require a footballing harlem globetrotter XI to pull that off and their victory has much to thank Barcelona running out of steam in that second half for.
You're an imbecile pal. Breathtaking idiocy there.
Ok here's another then: feasibly, that pen that Messi missed, Denilson or Chamakh could have scored.

Erm. What's the fecking point anyway?

Uh huh.

Apart from any side managed by Wenger. If it's so easy to do, why were we smashed by Barca last year, the year before that and...errr..oh yeah 8-2 at Old Trafford!

Chelski are mercenary scum but no matter what we say or think about them, what does it say about the type of disgusting putrid mercenaries stinking it out at Arsenal, when pay-cheque footballers like Cashley, Mikel, Bosingwa, Meireles and Fat Frank can dig in, show grit, steel and a refusal to buckle, in the face of all adversity?

For all the idiotic glating about 'the Arsenal way', the fact is, that inside this club here at present, there is only one player with the balls and mental fortitude to go out there and perform with that determination and that player is Van Persie. Koscielny might make it there someday but not quite yet. And that one player, as expected, wants out!

Our club has no values and no players with pride in the shirt, it's populated by workshy mercenaries who think they are better than they are. For instance, could you ever imagine braindead Alex Song putting in the type of disciplined defensive performance required, positionally, to stem a side like Barca?

:rubchin:
WTF, mate? How can a Gooner want the chav scum to ever win anything??!! And particularly a chav team with Judas Cuntley A-Hole in it?! :o

The rest of your post is pretty much bang on, especially RE Alex Song and the fact that a Wenger side could not do what the chavs did at the Whore's place, but you are starting to sound more like your hatred of Wenger is a bigger part of your life than your love of The Arsenal. :?

Genuine question; Has Wenger ever done anything that made you happy and that you could gladly give him credit for?
Hey mate.

I agree, the Chelski comment was a bit far, I wouldn't enjoy the Chavs winning the CL of course. However, like SteveO said, I welcome it if they win it. I'm sick and tired of the farcical 'we qualify for CL every season' bollox I keep hearing. I am also tired of braindead retard Arsenal fans going on about how 'we need CL football'

WHAT FOR?

What do the fans get out of it? Oh yeah, bland group games, and instant humiliation from the first decent team faced. It's an exhausting process.

As for Wenger, I will say what I give him credit for:

1. He did go Unbeaten. (although, I'd be interested to hear what an amazing 'genius' he is, when Conte at Juve matches his achievement, with Conte being much younger and having far less experience, and in a major league unlike AVB)

2. He got £23 mil for Anelka, and got the best out of him. He was never gonna be better than he was post-us. THAT is what I call 'good business', because the player helped us win trophies and was Then sold at a hefty profit when we had no need for him.

3. He got £25 mil for Overmars even though his knee was knackered.

4. He handled the first year of our transition to the Emirates admirably.

5. He gave us, for a relative period, a footballing identity, in terms of a swashbuckling, counter-attacking side with athleticism and power.

That is what I give him credit for.

As you will note though, all of these things happened many, many years ago. And one doesn't live off yesterday's dinner.
Everything he has done over the past 7 years has not just undone it, it has actually made him an absolute cretin. That ranges from the 8-2, 4-4 Spuds, 4-4 Newcastle; to banning the supporters Q& like an African autocrat, to his 'half a day in football'; to throwing the 2008 league title that was ours for the taking, by being too arrogant to add to the squad in Jan, to the mental weakness and excuses he instills in each team. His lack of class and grace in the way he has long-running battles with Stoke, his behaviour at Wigan etc...his pathetic, scandalous record in Europe, DIABY, Denilson, Eboue, Song, Chamakh; his obsession with French garbage....

You might have a point, my distaste of Wenger is as poignant of my 30 year plus love of Arsenal. But that's because the two are inextricably linked sadly. My love for Arsenal cannot resurface until the biggest sore on the club is removed with laser surgery.

LOL Red.

You still shit-faced from all that super-strong lager you got at the Emirates on CL night I see....

ROFL

Jog on girl....

Stick to telling us more tactical insights like how the 8-2 at OT meant nothing, and how our defence is 'the most feared in the PL' (errr behind Spuds, Everton, Liverpool, Sunderland, Manure and Newcastle!)

What happened to Spuds? Weren't they team whose example we should follow? Whose example should we follow now? Newcastle? Chavs?

There is this guy, regular in one of Blackstock rd pubs, and my ex-neighbour and he hates Wenger. Fair enough. What was absoutely unbelievable and made me think that guy is
a) idiot and
b) mentally ill and
c) one of those censored words

is this: less then an hour after THAT 5:2 game, as me and my mate and numerous other Gooners were celebrating best game at Grove ever by downing pints of Guinnes, he stumbles out of pub for a fag and I foolishly went over there to say hello and "have you seen THAT game?". He just looked at me with utter disgust and said: So fucking what? You think this will make things ok?

I was gobsmacked. Here in front of me was man so consumed by his own hatred (of Wenger) that he was unable to celebrate, or at least feel remotely pleased at such magnificent result. That exactly is the problem with certain poster here. Therefore, it does not really matter if he is Spud, Chav or indeed a Gooner, for it's not about club anymore. It's about his need to be proven right. In all that, TRUE love for club had vanished.

He wouldn't have been the only gooner to do so!! And couldn't TRUE LOVE consist of looking beyond one good result (or even 7) even if that was a great come-back victory over our bitter neighbours? :rubchin: Surely it's what happens in the medium and long term that should worry ALL gooners - not some one-off win over our rivals? After all, that's exactly how Spurs fans have behaved for over 30 years, and we've always laughed at them for it!! :rubchin:

My point is, if as an Arsenal fan you cannot feel happy/pleased after THAT game, what is the point of following Arsenal and footbal in general? Might as well pack it up.

Against sp*rs it really is all about that one game, each and every one game against them. It doesnt take away that Wenger is well past his sell by date and we need a change of direction generally but that one game to thrash them after being behind them all season 'mind the gap' and all how could any Gooner not be ecstatic? We all love Arsenal more than we hate Wenger im sure, apart from one poster that is
