Hodgson for England ?

Comes across as a nice bloke.

Certainly fits the old school tie and blazer brigade idea of an England boss, a sort of "Boy's Own" 1950's throwback (in a non Mark Lamarr type of way).

But appeared to me to be unable to handle the big egos of Liverpool, and I fear for him as England boss with the Chelsea egos in the squad.

As much as it pains me, you only have to look at the success Di Matteo has had at Chelsea to see how modern day English Premiership players need to be handled. They need to be molly-coddled and told how good they are every day of the week. AVB tried to move on Lampard, Terry etc and it back-fired. Arry loves to lick arse and to have a laugh and a joke with the boys. Woy won't get on well there. He fell out with Gerrard et al and he will do the same with the England boys.
I feel like this is about right.

I don't think he'll get the response from the England team/players that he wants, deserves, or needs.

It was a right laugh listening to the radio last night, one bloke: "Redknapp is a winner, Hodgson is not a winner".

When you've got people like this representing fan opinion there is little hope for England.

If the FA are still insistent on having an Englishmen then Hodgson is the right man. He can organise a side, plays a consistent team and gives every player a role - something that England have lacked for as long as I can remember. Redknapp is all over the shop, people only go for him because they have some infantile idea that he's gonna give some rousing cockney team-talk and inspire the millionaires.

Fucking snore, lets grow up.

Good for Woy. What a blinder the fa played in totally derailing the scums season.

Aas already said on Glory not so Glory they already have the knives out for Arry. Modric and co must be worried to death about a move away now :barscarf:

Think the WBA game now will become a little tougher. Lets hope all is done and dusted by then ?

I've got mixed opinion on this news. I would of preferred Pearce, he knows the young players better than any other candidate and could throw out the celebrity players who expect to be there and give youngsters who would play their hearts out for the team a chance to shine.

That said, could Woy have the bottle to tell Terry that he' not coming with us to the Euro's? Would he tell Rooney to show some passion and not expect to be there? And, god forbid, get them to sing the national anthem? :banghead: Seriously, you're playing for your country and you cant be arsed to sing the anthem? You dont deserve a spot.

I'll reserve judgement until after the Euro's but I think that, if not Pearce, then Woy could be best for the job.

Fingers crossed and, even though everytime I'm made to look like a div for saying so, make it our year! C'mon England!

Harry is the best man for the job hes won only 1 trophy in 30 yrs of management so he would fit in nicely with englands 1 trophy in over 40yrs policy.

Excellent choice, from an Irish point of view. Hodgson has proved when at the mousers that he can't manage big name players. So linking up again with Gerrard should be interesting and throw in the scum that are Cole and Terry and their proven record in non-co-operation with managers and I think a spectacular failure awaits poor old Ingerland once again. :barscarf: :barscarf: :barscarf: :barscarf:

How long will he last though?

when we flop this summer the press will go mad - as the FA have gone against their demands to bring in Arry.

I don't really care who got it as I'm not a fan of International footy, but believe Roy is correct choice for his profile and his experience.
Looking forward to hearing all the excuses now of how the new manager issue derailed Scums season and was a distraction. Bet he's gutted and I'm pleased , hated the way he cockily laughed off questions on the subjct as if he had it in the bag, Twat !!

I respect Woy and think that he is a proper gentleman and I wish him well. Unfortunately these same qualities are exactly what will alienate him from the squad.

Lets face it, the england squad is full of overated, racist, thieving, prositute shagging, egotistical morons. They will look at Woy and in thier idiotic minds will find him and his qualities as a cause for amusement and derision. Any other international squad of footballers would respect him but no way will our morons. No they would rather 'Dodgy Arry' - one of thier own. :banghead: :banghead:

Like Woy a lot. Think he is a respctable decent man.His time at the Victims tarnishes his CV , but in reality he was as good as the King that replaced him. It must have been a nightmare of Villa Boas proportions for him to go in there.
It affects Arsenal in the fact that WBA will now be very much up for his last game. Spuds will benifit from knowing Harry is safe , bad news for us all in all.

It's a sad indictment (though possibly an accurate one) that the biggest question mark over Roy is that the senior players might not respect him. He's going to be the manager of the national team and each and every player should be honoured and grateful if selected. I hope he has the bottle to bin a couple of big names (Fat Frank?) from the squad, which may help get the others attention. The 'Golden Generation' have achieved nothing so let's see some new faces.
