As i said to red earlier if youre happy with 3rd then im pleased for you, personally anything other than winning it is failure to me. 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th i could go on if it isnt 1st its nothing..... and as for the European Cup we have no chance of winning the damn competition so unless you get excited by end of year accounts then that means very little to me toohighburyJD wrote:seriously?flash gunner wrote:Doesnt say they want us to lose, does it? I assume that you want Usmanov brought in as soon as possible then because otherwise you are set for a very miserable timeflash gunner wrote:As i said to red earlier if youre happy with 3rd then im pleased for you, personally anything other than winning it is failure to me. Either that or get a manager that will spend the money available to him and drop the hairbrained 'project' that has fucked up our last few seasons, im easy really!!!Red Member wrote:I assume that you want Usmanov brought in as soon as possible then because otherwise you are set for a very miserable timeflash gunner wrote:As i said to red earlier if youre happy with 3rd then im pleased for you, personally anything other than winning it is failure to me. 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th i could go on if it isnt 1st its nothing..... and as for the European Cup we have no chance of winning the damn competition so unless you get excited by end of year accounts then that means very little to me toohighburyJD wrote:seriously?flash gunner wrote:Doesnt say they want us to lose, does it? you seriously don't enjoy ANY wins in a season we don't win the league...?
find that very hard to believe

Re: Arsenal v Norwich
Not sure ive explained myself well enough. I know we cant win the league every year but this year for example we started on the backfoot by keeping Cesc and Nasri till after the season had started and then panic buying on deadline day they should have been bought in July ready to have a full pre season with us and Cesc and Nasri should have been sold then too. This season has been a disaster the 8-2 loss our worst ever defeat in Europe for example. Yeah we've had some good wins thrashing the scum was very satisfying but we've never been in the title race and for a club like Arsenal that isnt good enough and i cant get exctited about a top 4 finish its failurehighburyJD wrote:I know you want us to win (unlike sone on here) butflash gunner wrote:No thats exactly where youre getting it wrong as im assuming from from the posters earlier too. Re: Arsenal v Norwich
failing to compete for trophies was/is a failure
but recovering from our horror show start and injury ravaged winter was impressive to some extent
3rd is IMO a birdy, not a trophy
but one place up would be an end of season improvement
(last year we finished 4th in a 2 horse race so did at least challenge)

4th place this season would be a success not a failure.
already AW is making sure that the same mistakes as last summer are not made and the signing of Podolski is a statement of intent. I still do not believe last summer was Wenger's fault - more the fault of the board which remains the biggest handicap to any future success. I imagine Wenger would walk away now if he thought that last summer was repeated.

No it wouldn'tRed Member wrote:4th place this season would be a success not a failure.
Sorry mate im not buying that shit. Wenger has been at the club long enough and is hero worshipped enough not to be handicapped by the board. One person fucked up last summer but while people like yourself look elsewhere for blame he'll keep getting away with 4th placed 'success'Red Member wrote:I still do not believe last summer was Wenger's fault - more the fault of the board which remains the biggest handicap to any future success. Re: Arsenal v Norwich
Wenger gambled he could keep one/both of Cesc and Na$ri and failed
he has to take responsibility for that
could have sold Na$ri early and at worst held out for more money for Fabregas or best case persuaded him to stay for one more year with the Tets, Mertesacker signings
previously he kept hold of several players for longer than expected - Sky have announced Vieira deals done before our last two trophies in which he was integral
rolled that dice to many times I guess
