It is great to hear that Podolski is coming to Arsenal and the season hasn't even finished yet. Is Arsene feeling alright its not like him to make an early transfer?

OK whilst everyones playing dreamteam,
I know my view that Song is a brilliant and key player for us is an exception here
but its one I'm pretty sure is shared by the manager
I just can't see him being anything but first choice

Does your opinion of the 'brilliant' Song preclude you from seeing the number of times he is caught in possession, or gives away stupid fouls or plays slow and inaccurate passes, or do you recognise these but still consider him 'brilliant'?
I accept that he tries hard, plays the odd great pass, makes some decent tackles. This doesn't prevent me from thinking that his level is towards the bottom of the league rather than the top.

but I see Song as an immense player, he's a beast. Best strength on the ball I've seen since Vieira, makes loads of interceptions - does lose the ball sometimes but normally wins it straight back. Amazing creativity (waaay more than the odd great pass - he makes as many key passes as almost anyone in Europe).
Holds the ball whilst we break forward and holds the ball when we're under pressure. Him and Arteta have an excellent partnership.
I think there's a big confirmation bias issue in football. Song is a player much criticised here, his mistakes are registered disproportionately.
Not an argument I'll win...

Song's strengths seem cancelled out by his weaknesses.highburyJD wrote:I know on this site I'm fighting against the tideGranadaJoe wrote:Does your opinion of the 'brilliant' Song preclude you from seeing the number of times he is caught in possession, or gives away stupid fouls or plays slow and inaccurate passes, or do you recognise these but still consider him 'brilliant'?

For all the ability to deputise at centre back, the good passes to RvP, the powerful forward runs and the strong tackles; there are the misplaced passes and the horrible wandering out of position that make me think of him as a bench player.
I hope we will see a more disciplined Arteta - Wilshere partnership for next season's deep central midfielders.
I also think Coquelin looks as if he he has everything in his locker to be better than Song by the end of next season.

as I said
not gonna win this fight here
but you must all see that, right or wrong, Wenger thinks the same as me
and that makes him being shipped out unlikely
