4 Premiership teams in the quarters of the CL!

Post by Fabrestuta »

Liverpool are 1 up at the San Siro so they are all but through, this will be the first time EVER that 4 teams from one league are in the last 8. It will also mean there's no Italian teams and only one Spanish team.

I wonder what Monsieur Platini will have to say about this, considering his comments about the Premiership.

I expect Platini will be ordering two of the Quarter final balls in the oven and the other two in the fridge

AS Roma are still there

The knock out phases are bad enough but if we drew an english team that'd raise my blood pressure a little more

if inter is top of the pile, and thats the best the italians have to offer at the moment, then they are in trouble at the moment, you could just see the scousers would score at some point, bit like your ac milan game, there only looked 1 winner to be fair

Go easy on redarmy7 gooner89 - he's only on here for a genuine chat and craic and is not here to take the piss like panto 8)

As regards the 1/4 finals I believe that the mancs will draw roma cos they have already thumped them before and I believe the mancs usually get the easiest draw of the english teams  I think the scousers will be going to turkey, the chavs to schalke which leaves us going to barcelona

You don't get much easier cup runs than Chelski get. Apart from the odd Barca clash they get the cannon fodder in every competition.

It's precisely because the Prem is startin to dominate that has people such as Platini and Blatter makin snide remarks about it, say what you want about either of those two and I'll agree but stupid they are not!
There has been an English side in the last 3 finals and the big four are startin to make appearances in the last 16 a regular thing!

Following Heysel all our clubs were banned for 5 years I think it highly unlikely that any country on the continent would have received that punishment and it's very hard not to draw conclusions when you consider that in the late 70's and early 80's we had a virtual monopoly on the European Cup with a side in 8 out of the 9 finals between '76 and '84 and winning all of them except the one on the night of the disaster itself!

So I fear that history could be repeating itself with the constant references from UEFA and FIFA regarding the introduction of homegrown player quotas and we all know which league and which clubs that is aimed at!
