The Arsenal Jumble Sale

Post by frankbutcher »

We have numerous players out on Loan plus a load of other duds. If we can sell a few of them (they want to leave anyway), we should free up serious money. Feel free to add realistic sales:

Arshavinv - £5m (+ £70k per week wages for a year= £3.5m)
Denilson - Will sadly return to us.
Bendtner - £5m (+£50k per week wages for a year = £3m)
Vela - £3m? (+£20k per week wages for a year = £1m)
Mannone - £Free
Chamakh - £5m (+ £? wages)
Squillaci - Stuck with him
Lansbury - £1m to Norwich?
Almunia -- Free (Out of contract?)
Benayoun - Back to Chelsea (£50k per week on wages = £2.5m)

Clearly the wages these guys are on may be stumbling blocks but I get the impression Bendy and Vela will noe take pay-cuts such is their dismay at their Arsenal prospects. Arshavin wants to go too.

I reckon we have the best part of £30m of savings there (conservatively)

be suprised if we would get £5m for Chamakah, we got him on a free and he has gone backwards

Arsh is out of contract this summer so don't expect to see any money on him. Even the Brazilian leagues are frustrated with Denilson and so I expect to see him sent out on another loan, as few teams would (understandably) want to take a chance with him. Bendtner and Vela may have some selling value, as the former has done decent with Sunderland and could be a great buy for a top Championship or bottom Premiership side, and the latter is doing alright in Spain from what I'm told.

Problem is, almost our entire "for sale" lot is so obviously excess to requirements around here that teams will want to penny-pinch us... and Wenger simply doesn't like to get less than what he considers full value for a player.

We should just have a "give us 1m, and you get to stick your hand in the hat and draw out a player to keep".

Vela will go for more than £3m, especially after scoring again tonight...
Kyle Bartley will be back so Schillaci will go I think...

Could bring in another £2M in fees, and save a bit on wages with these added in.

Hoyte - £50,000 per year. No fee, contract has expired.
Diaby - £2.5M per year (but I think no one will buy him).
Eastmond - £50,000 per year. Free transfer.
Mannone - £250,000 per year. Possible free transfer.
Watt - £50,000 per year. Free transfer.
Park - £1.5M per year. £1M transfer?
Bartley - £250,000 per year. £500,000 transfer?
Botelho - £50,000 per year. £500,000 transfer.

Agree with everything,
Except benayoun.

I would be happy if we could keep him..
I always liked him as a Liverpool player..
And he brings something else to the team..

Agree.
But Benayoun himself has spoken of the need for more regular games, probably at a mid table club.

Vela will sell for far more then £3mil, Real Sociedad is very keen in keeping him, as he's got a 0.5 goal scoring average with them. He might sell for 6 or 7 mil.

São Paulo wanted to keep denilson as a loanee, Arsenal is the one wanting to sell. So I figure we'll sell him for pretty much any fee.

Who'd take them?!

But seriously, Feo Feo would be no real loss, he doesn't deliver near enough over a season to justify his wage tbh. Gibbs? Sometimes looks great other times woeful... and his ankle is made out of tissues... I'd probably keep both on the bench but would let them go for a decent cash offer or a trade... :?

I'll have to get back to you on that one

To be fair they both put in some great performances, but only after months of dreadful ones.

Walnut is a great opportunity that could fall into our lap - offer him a much lower wage than he is seeking, force him into turning it down so that we can state publicly that we had to sell him cos he only has 1 year left on contract 8) This scenario would pacify the jcl's who think the brainless fool is great, it will pacify the older fans like me who think that he is shit and want him gone plus it would probably bring in a tidy sum to use towards strengthening our defensive midfielder and centre forward options 8) If we are to continue playing the same system then we already have podolski, the ox, ryo and the forehead for those positions so we can afford to let one go and feo would bring in more funds than the forehead
