surely, with tonights results + our last few games, that simply can't be the case...
We'll blow it. The only question is whether Spurs and Newcastle blow it too.

I think its more about belief in pressure situations. Wenger even alluded to that point after Stoke. We had our best 2 runs of the seasons when we were a) effectively out of the title race by the start of September and b) when we had fallen 10 points behind Spurs and gave it an almighty 'shit or bust' effort at 0-2 down.

As soon as it looks like we're favourites to finish 3rd we start blowing it. Whenever the burden of expectation kicks in we're found wanting - whether its finishing top 3 or beating Birmingham City at Wembley. When it looks like we're out of it and expectations have dropped we turn it on again.

There are players at this club that have a lot of emotional baggage from near misses now; another reason why I think new blood would be most welcome. Vertonghen's just won a title at home - get him in if he's good enough. We need a hardcore of players that can supplement our best ones with the right mentality

I actually think we played well in the last match.
we toughed it out against Stoke which is a difficult place to go to. could end up being the crucial point.
we need to do the same here against Norwich and then hopefully Theo will be back for the final game to save the day and enable us to get 4th place

the majority of players we bought used to have recently won things
Petit + Grimandi the title at Monaco, Overmars + Kanu the CL with Ajax (and Kanu the Olympics)

it's all about 3rd, 4th is a failure

See what you did you ruined it. Just when we were assured of that sparkling bronze medal. That lovely perfumed sanctuary of comforting failure...

This is a MUST win game...ergo they'll score a goal and we'll spend 85mins tippy tapping the ball around outside their box....then they'll hit us on the break....Djourou who will have come on as a substitute will mis-time a tackle they'll get a pen we'll lose Nil - 2 and all will be rosey in the scums garden. :banghead:

Then we can all sing:

Always Luke On The Dark Side Of Life! Da Da Da Da Da Da Da Daaaah! :cussing: :suicide:

We'll blow it. The only question is whether Spurs and Newcastle blow it too.
maybe the negativity on these boards transmits itself to the players

how do you know we'll blow it? we are playing NORWICH CITY at home. if we cant go in confident against them then we might as well give up

When are you going to realise that football matches aren't won on paper. Tell me how we got on at home against the worst team in the division again?

That's too easy to answer. One of my most enjoyable days of the season, posing as a Wolves fan in one of those online chat things next to the live stream of the match. Got them properly wound up that day :D
