As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.
highburyJD wrote:...the extra points X adds doesnt take into affect what we lose by not having Y
Now algebra was never my strong point but surely the fact that 'X adds extra points' does take into account what we lost by not having Y by the mere fact we have extra points, and the solution is thus nothing is lost?
not how I see it (my algebraic example was probably a bit rubbish) people always say all we needed was 'insert perceived weakness here' but the butterfly effect that addition would made is impossible to guess

Signings are always a gamble
yep, but if you make enough of them, you will get success,
City bought Santa Cruz, not good enough, then they bought Adebayor, not good enough, then they bought Dzeko, not good enough then they bought Aquero and finally got it right

not a great example
no other club in history has managed that
FFS Inter bought loads of great strikers who were, individually a 'success', but Fenomeno never won SerieA...
"Usmanov is also dogged by the widespread belief in Uzbekistan that he was guilty of a particularly atrocious rape, which was covered up and the victim and others in the know disappeared." http://www.craigmurray.org.uk/archives/ ... r_usmanov/
So probably a crooked gangster, probably a rapist, almost definitely a ManUre fan.
What a stomach turning trifecta.
I don't want us turning into Chelski or ManShitty (with even more distasteful money)
I would rather pray we can compete without financial doping.
Would mean a hell of a lot more than buying it.
if he comes and spends 100mil (pocket change) i will contact you so my mate can buy your season ticket haha
not that it will happen, but i dont give a fuck a fuck what this guy has done i want him in big time.
yeh fuck being like citeh or chavski i would hate that so much. Having a history like ours with young players mixed with world class signings. winning the leauge and being admired by the worlds best players
give me a strugle for 3rd anyday. dropping points to stoke and norwich and being happy with that, is where the fun is at.
i bet the chavski players and fans hated beating barca and winning the fa cup. I bet they all got home and wished they were us drawing with stoke and throwing away 3rd spot and having the scum and newcastle (40 and 60% lower wage salary) within 1 point of the mighty arsenal.

I think you will find that ship has well sailed mate - tradition went with the crest, highbury, the marble halls, the kits etc and all that is left is a club and manager that shows no more class than any of it's rivals (suing a hat shop owner is spain for starters ). We used to be the flagship club even when we were not winning trophies......people used to talk about there being two ways of doing things with one being the way 99% of clubs did things and the other was The Arsenal Way and that set us apart from the rest. These days we are a money grabbing business run by whores who sold out for their pot of gold after constantly talking about being committed to the club - everything and everybody is for sale at the modern day AFC

As we two old grizzlies walked up the gangplank to the bowl on Saturday to be confronted by clueless tourists waving paper tickets at bemused turnstile stewards, I mentioned the incongruity of the "sharing season ticket clampdown" - highlighted on these boards earlier - to my mate.
More in resignation than anger I wondered out loud at how this could be happening at "our" club.
His reply?

That's the point though. The Club want a cut on any ticket deal. Use ticket exchange and it costs you 10%. Thed Club are desperate for the cash.

Do I want us to have someone who would be willing to spend big from time to time if needed? Yes.
It doesn't matter how much a player costs, its about a WILLINGNESS to spend the money.
The current board's way of doing things (and in a sense Arsene's) cost us Xavi Alonso because we wouldn't pay the extra 3 mill or something. 5k lost us the best left back in the world.
Just because Usmanov may come in doesn't mean we would/should turn into the next scum of the leauge.
