Re: McDowell's 'Rumours' Thread
We should be paying him close to 200K per week ourselves. That's standard among the star players for the top clubs nowadays. But we won't, we will pay him 140K and give the likes of Walcott and Song pay rises to 100K.

Re: McDowell's 'Rumours' Thread
would love Dempsey (also good to sell some shirts in the States)
only a couple of clubs in the world pay £200K - I don't think its sustainable
RVP desperately wants Walcott to stay, I think its key to keeping him
ManShitty can, via the tabloids, 'offer' a desert island, an small european country and 7 supercars a week to RVP if they like
its up to the club if we sell him

you would give up RVP if it meant keeping Theo???
I'm flabbergasted. Is that the consensus on here...
I can see the 'RVP's old and injury prone: just take the cash' argument
never even heard the 'I hate Walcott so much would bin RVP rather than keep both' version...
Re: McDowell's 'Rumours' Thread
Knee-jerkers on here don't realise that Theo served up the majority of RVP's goals this season on a plate. Show me a winger that has a fantastic game against a team parking the bus on a narrow pitch, not going to happen.

he's not perfect
but I've seen some terrible recent performances from Bale and Valencia
Re: McDowell's 'Rumours' Thread
Credit to Theo to be honest, he has to run around tirelessly just to have RVP take the plaudits while he is moaned at for not getting enough goals.

Theo is DIRE when attacking on his own, he doesn't think sometimes but in the terms of setting up the striker he has been top class the season.

one on one he's done OK this season, he's a decent finisher

Worth 100k per week decent ?? If not then what is he worth ? I will guarantee you that he believes that he is worth more than you and I would be willing to offer

Re: McDowell's 'Rumours' Thread
I'm not sure it's knee-jerk, as many fans have formed their opinion of Theo over several seasons.highburyJD wrote:+1N1Goon wrote:Knee-jerkers on here don't realise that Theo served up the majority of RVP's goals this season on a plate. I've defended Theo quite a lot on here, and personally, I think he's a useful player who gets unfairly treated by some fans BUT he's far too inconsistent and one dimensional to be a first team regular at the moment.
I like the lad and would love him to succeed at The Arsenal, but I do wonder if he's more superstar than substance and whether we'd be better off selling him than caving in to what will almost certainly be eye wateringly high wage demands.

Ideally, I'd like Theo and Wenger to sit down and admit to each other that Theo hasn't developed enough to warrant a pay rise and if anything, we've been paying over the odds on wages for unfulfilled potential, and therefore a new contract should be signed on frozen wages.
Of course, that won't happen though
