Political views of realists and rosetinters

It's all a load of Cannonballs in here! This is the virtual Arsenal pub where you can chat about anything except football. Be warned though, like any pub, the content may not always be suitable for everyone.

Very glad I work hidden away in a lab most of the time, far away from the dog-eat-dog world of the city... it's probably not as bad as I imagine, but it seems a very arrogant, money obsessed world and I really wouldn't fit in at all
 Sounds like a romantic view on matters. However I'm not into hiring and then murdering call girls.
How about murdering work colleagues with an axe to the back of the head whilst talking through your music collection?

Edit: I see frank uses the phrase "dog-eat-dog" world in the above post, so perhaps I'm not far off then
Now that I realise this was not really a political and sociological debate but just 'two bankers' arguing over the economy (while admitting they'd both done well out of their role in it), the image of two drunks swinging wildly in a car-park and then embracing each other like best mates just sprung into my mind!! :-P

Try the better standards of living in Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Netherlands and Germany. Not necessarily socialist but not bought in to this neo-liberal bullshit.

so you think that banks should be deregulated so your wages and savings can be gambled??
and the alternate to that unfettered insanity is 'socialism''??

Same old, same old. The banks are to blame for everything. Nothing to do with other peoples own choices to get themselves into debt and live beyond their means.
