Haye and Chisora to fight

It's all a load of Cannonballs in here! This is the virtual Arsenal pub where you can chat about anything except football. Be warned though, like any pub, the content may not always be suitable for everyone.

Haye and Chisora to fight

Post by g88ner »

What a joke that is!

Thoughts..?

Good for boxing or a stain on the sport? - for me it's the latter.

Chisora should be facing a lengthy ban for the way he behaved. It sends the wrong message. The fight will benefit from the negative publicity and no doubt line their pockets as a result.

It's also a slap in the face for British boxing, and Haye/Chisora/Warren should be shunned from boxing for the rest of their careers for organising this event via the back door.

British boxing has been shamed.

Or am I missing the point by considering boxing a serious sport, and should I just enjoy the show?

Not a freak show and is good business.

Bit naughty but by the time they fight both will have served a significant amount of time away from the ring.

Thought their bust up was a publicity stunt that got out of hand and degenerated into bad taste.

Warren has branched out by making it a non Board of Control event, fascinating but shows that when times are hard promoters go to where the money is.

The quality of the fighters is above average but not amazing, but the needle between them makes for an electric atmosphere and will generate a lot of public interest.

It takes Boxing off the back pages and onto the front pages.

Make no mistake, the winner will fight for a world title again.

Haye should have the speed to win on points but Chisora will always have a puncher's chance.

Complete joke. Sums up society really. You can go around and smash people up and make money out of it. Frank Warren should be ashamed.

C'mon Frank.

That press conference fight was over the top in how much violence occurred, but surely the idea for bit of a punch up was planned?

All good hype.

Rather have a bit of interest in a fight with larger than life characters than see good fighters go unknown through their careers because yet another reality show takes up airtime.

Oh I'm not naive enought to believe that this hasn't been stage-managed from start to finish. I find it a disgrace that quasi-brawls have occurred in Germany which have made the UK fight scene look a joke across the world. When you consider the likes of Henry Cooper and then compare it to these two c u nt s, I find it an insult when people dismiss it as "life". It ain't right. It's an effing disgrace. :banghead:

It was definitely planned, and that's the saddest part about it because it reflects badly on British sport.

Yes.
It´s the same with all the casting shows. You laugh at the people, get the right viewing figures and make money through commercials.

Absolute shit. David Haye is everything that is wrong with modern society and modern boxing. Boxing ended as a truly great sport a long time ago. Their "impromptu" punch up was the most embarrassingly staged thing I've seen in a long time.

What's your problem here Sammy?

You put an opinion, I disagreed with it, and explained why. No insults used in doing so.

Feel free to argue why it is a freak show but don't be put out that I have a different opinion.
Opinions are split on this in the boxing world too

In my opinion it is sadly indicative of what sportsmen represent nowadays.

Money speaks and the money in sport today is brash and cheap, just like some the sportsmen it has afforded lavish lifestyles.

Their behaviour was inappropiate at best, and I think that rather like Dwayne Chambers, they should have forfeited any right to make more money from their chosen sport. Different scenarios granted, but they have brought sport into disrepute and therefore, should suffer harsh consequences.

When society has gone the way of, soap drama's, can't sing, dance, cook etc etc etc on our tv's, then I think that most people who enjoy that kind of stuff would find it acceptable to behave in this way.

Like I said, this is my opinion. FACT
