Indeed, but instead it will be remembered for that disgraceful banner almost praising the way we sell on our best players. The defeat will live with me forever and the clowns that displayed that thing will be forever etched on my braingoonersid wrote:Spot on Flash, this should have spelt the end for Wenger.flash gunner wrote:I can't forget the disgrace of the 8-2 defeat at old trafford. To lose by that margin to a once rival team and our worst defeat in 115 years is an absolute disgrace and if Wenger had any decency he would have walked 10 minutes after the full time whistle.
There have been the odd good time this season but very few and far between the above defeat will not leave me for a long long time

He fell asleep on the tube so missed his stop.
Also, that was the day when everybody was singing 'who's that lying on the carpet?' and when his dad called him to ask him where he was, he responded 'lying on the carpet'

Agreed. Stood there at Old Trafford trying to get as much abuse directed at Wenger as I could but being drowned out by the continuous singing (which admittedly paid dividends in the end cos we got our money back!) but it was a day where the embarrassment and anger was mega whilst standing 2 yards from gloating mancs from Cornwall1989 wrote:It will always be remembered as the "8-2" season for me.

The constant singing was the only thing that stopped me wanting to kill someone
Re: Abiding memories of this season
Overall very few positives - unlike most I cannot point to individual victories cos for every great win like 4-2 at the chavs we can point to a defeat like we suffered at blackburn
Rvp was without doubt a huge positive - it was great to see him finally fit enough to play a full season and the amount of goals, and quality of them, was outstanding for me
The emergence of kos as a key player was a huge plus for me plus the early promising signs from the ox.
Negatives - it is impossible to look beyond the debacle in mancland. It was without doubt the most embarassing capitulation in the history of our great club and one that I can never see "bettered" in the next 125 years.
Noticable competitors for the debacle include the timid surrender in milan - it isnt that we lose these games that bother me but the fact that we never seem to fight enough to do the club justice
However the negative that stands out for me above all else is the deeply depressing resignation that we will see more of the same for the next few years as the senile fool refuses to do the honourable thing and fcuk off
It seems nowadays that to be classed as a proper Gooner you have to bow unreservedly at the alter of wenger and embrace failure like it was a long lost friend - the amount of "one aw" chants we have heard during the season allied to the pro wenger banners has made me question if there is a place for me at Arsenal games anymore and I never thought that I would see that day
Maybe the fact that as fans we seem unwilling or unable to unite to protest against the manager and board suggests that we deserve all this shit
Finishing up I think that we should prepare ourselves for a season to culminate in the ultimate embarassment......finishing the season behind the scum. As a man that holds no interest in finishing 3rd or 4th just to be an also ran in the champs lge (or should that read the league of champions and 3 sets of losers ?
) then all that matters is finishing above those c**ts and I think this season that run will come to an end and if I am honest I wouldnt be at all surprised if we ended up finishing 5th

Re: Abiding memories of this season
No positives from this season, only the same old again.
The 8-2 is by far the worst and will be for many years to come. Being one of those at the game that day, i have to say it was the worst performance i have seen by an Arsenal side, so much so that it really should have been double figures.
A result that was quickly followed by a defeat to a team that has now been relegated (and 4 goals as well). A couple of highs like Chelsea and Spurs but ultimately a season that has seen up ship more goals, more defeats than the previous few seasons, 20 odd points behind the teams in front of us, a pathetic non effort in the San Siro and a seasons end that see no wins in 4 against such heavyweights as Wigan, Norwich, Stoke and Chelsea Reserves.
the hope that things will change and unfortunately they never seem to under Wenger.

Re: Abiding memories of this season
Henry in the cup is the stand out moment for me which pretty much sums up what a poor season it has been. Would have loved us to go on and win the thing after that.
Other than that the atmosphere at the bridge after the game "Cheeelsea Cheeelsea, money cant buy you history!!" and being able to give it to the spurs fans in club level above block 7 was also brilliant. Also RVPs miss against Milan at home, if that had gone in it would have been one of the greatest come backs of all time.

Stamford Bridge.
Scum at home.
Also Scum away....but only for that classic half-time moment when actor Roger Lloyd-Pack was interviewed on the pitch. He was introduced as a lifelong Tottscum supporter. The rest of the interview was drowned out by the chant of
"Trigger you're a ****", Trigger Trigger you're a ****" from the away end.
