5 - shambles of a summer, but in the end, despite our gap to the top have risen, we did the minimum for an Arsenal side, which is CL qualification and finishing above spurs.
worst - 8-2 at OT.
best - 3-5 at the Bridge
Best player - Koscielny

Re: Season Review 2011/2012
5-all because Wenger fucked up last summer.10 defeats and 19pts behind the top 2 is shocking.Knocked out of Europe when we faced the first half decent team we played again.I fear 3rd place will just cover the cracks and nothing will change
best -5-2 Spuds
worst- 8-2(Wenger should have quit at the final whistle) Milan how bad was that
best player-Kos.

Quote from Hanson on motd where he says than manure did well to finish 2nd cos they are an average team - if they are an average team then where does that leave us as we finished 19 pts behind them ?

We were never going to win the league this season regardless of what happened in the summer. We finished above a Chelsea team who have spent £100m+ in the last season and above the scum who were at one stage on the verge of going 13 points above us. If people had offered 3rd at the start of the season everyone on this board would have taken it

Re: Season Review 2011/2012
Maybe after the Man Utd and Blackburn debacles but certainly not at the start of the season they wouldn't have!! At that time we still held out hope that we might sign players to replace Cesc and strengthen the squad. Alas Wenger decided to delay until the last minute of the transfer window at the end of August and so we were left with just hoping we'd sneak into the Top 4 - and we just about did!

Re: Season Review 2011/2012
I'd give it five.
Due to the disorganized start we went backwards this year.
Memorable wins over Chelsea and the spuds don't hide that fact.
It seems to have been a long hard season and I'm actually glad it's over.
Bright spots were Ox, Arteta's goals, RvP & Rosicky staying fit, Kos growing in stature and chesney improving but still a long way for him to go.
I would have liked to see more of Santos and Benayoun.
Injuries did hit us hard too - Tv5, jack, sagna twice, jenkinson and Gibbs exposed the light weight back ups.
Gervinho just didn't produce, chamakh is done now. Gerv deserves a second chance after a rest in the summer.
As well as being over reliant on RvP ( which I hoped we've fixed with the podolski deal) it was clear that we don't have two talented midfield enforcers to protect the back four AND start lightening attacks.
Song, Ramsey, Frimpong and Diaby are not going to cut it.
I do think we do have the nucleus of a good team, even a great team but this year showed we're at least two yard from being top two, even if we do get mvila n vertonghen.
With Euro 2012 this summer we can expect little next year as we never do well after major tournaments due our lightweight squads.

Re: Season Review 2011/2012
Awful embarrasing start, the most goals conceded by an Arsenal team in virtually 50 years, didn't challenge for ANYTHING, relied totally on one player for goals, 10 defeats in a season, 8-2 defeat....................it was a f**king awful season!! We're third because of the pish poor quality of the league. I've never seen such a mediocre Utd team in the premiership and yet they finished 19 points clear of us!!!!
Arsenal are going backwards in big strides and if RVP goes, as looks quite likely we are fooked big time. Wenger is filling the entire squad with mediocrity and the result will be us dropping out of the CL next year or at best the year after, just before he buggers off.
The season is worth a 3.....just because we got third. Realistically it was a 2.

Because we know the management's aim is only champions league football and nothing else.Resident Plastic wrote:8

Acceptance of the reality of the way that Arsenal is run.
And we have too many really bad players to win any league other than the Scottish Premier

Re: Season Review 2011/2012
Well after the match last night ,I went radio rental and stayed out until 4am with the missus after the game pissing it up and celebrating getting into the Chumpions league again but more for finishing above some other team.
In the Cold light of day though it's been a shit season despite our finishing 3rd .
Complete shambles pre season
Stopgap signings last day of which only Arteta has done well ,but he is injury prone so we may never see him again .
Failure to rid ourselves of the deadwood
Hapless defense !
Clueless midfield !
Lightweight attack reliant on 1 man who thank the Lord staid fit for an entire term !
Humilation by MUFC and Milan !
Frustration at getting turned over by shit teams !
Hopeless team selection and management !
Was it worth the monster hangover ? ? ? ?
Oh Yes most surely yes ,but im not sure I will be welcome in the Phillipine Kareoke Bar after going a cappella with "Crack Away on the Beano"
BTW looking at Pat Rice kicking every ball yesterday from the touchline I saw just how much it means to him Arsenal through and through, goodbye and God Bless .........Tasty Goal !

Re: Season Review 2011/2012
an awesome season, some fantastic matches, we had the best striker in the world and despite our worse start for 58 years we still finished 3rd! Incredible.
18 points clear of Liverpool
6 points clear of Chelsea
who would have thought that back in August?
and for the first season since the Invincibles back in 2004 we are once again the top dogs in London!
I now do want to seem some kind of intent shown from the club though. This should be a springboard towards actual success. This is Wenger's LAST chance. He better not blow it.
