The Euros

Post by goonersid »

Who do you fancy? we are running a sweepstake in work, and have been collecting money since last year and will have a prize kitty of £3200.
I reckon the spanish are on the slide so not keen on drawing them, I would prefer Germany or Holland and have a sneaky feeling that France will do well.

Cant see Spain doing well at all, Torres is misfiring and Villa is out for the tournament. At the back Puyol is gone and Pique seems to be out of form too. I reckon its Germany or Holland's to lose, nobody else has anywhere near the quality they have in their team.

We did that for the Euro's in Portugal 8 years ago, and some poor sod picked out 'Greece' and we all laughed...

Still can't believe they won it

Everyone will probably say the same thing... Spain, Germany or Holland. But they will all be wrong... it's finally England's turn 8) no one rates us, and that's our trump card... the element of surprise! :gus:

Germany will win. We will probably reach the quarter finals, but then we will be eliminated as usual. Just like in 2008, when Russia and Arshavin had to play their best game ever. :banghead:

Holland don't look great at the back whereas Germany look strong all over the park. I wouldn't write Spain off. Llorente and Soldado are both good strikers. On balance though I'd go for Germany.

My Dad tells the story of when they had a sweepstake for the 1966 World Cup. He drew Brazil and was planning what to spend his winnings on. They laughed at the bloke who drew England. For 2012 I'd still laugh at the bloke who draws England.

I think you might be right, usually leading up to a major tournament the hype surrounding England is cringeworthy and we always fail to live up to it. However on this occassion, no one is expecting us to do well and I think that will work to our advantage and without the pressure, we may well go on and win the bloody thing.
