Dalglish sacked... or maybe walked

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Le Clown wins nothing in 7 years and is safe!

The AKBs claim "we cannot compete" with cash rich teams, yet when it's pointed out that Pool spent 100 mil and we finished ahead of them, the position changes

So is money a guarantee of success or not?

As I've said a million times, any serious club would have sacked Wenger as far back as 2008. When he bottled a league title that was ours to lose.
yes but wenger finished in top four every one of those seasons. he is a far superior manager, even during his senile days

It does when you buy Aguero and not carroll.
It does when you buy Silva and not Downing and Henderson.

Any management team that spends 100M on the players Liverpool did are not fit for purpose.

Martinez is flavour of the month. He probably is a good manager, but Liverpool is a serious job. The new manager is going to have to have a good scout network, and identify real quality. Not the moneyball b8llocks like commolli did.

It will be a Moneyball manager. It's going to be Martinez.

NO WAY. FSG will appoint a Moneyball-style manager. They are businessmen, not sports fans.

No surprise there.
His performance in the League was abysmal and he dragged the club thru the mud with his handling of the Suarez affair.

Just found out that in Uruguay "you're fired" means "you've done a good job" :)

Yeah, but there's a HUGE difference between Liverpool incompetently wasting £100m on Carroll, Downing, Adam and Henderson to that of Citeh buying real quality in Silva, Nasri, Yaya, Aguero, Tevez, Dzeko, etc....

It's how the money is spent.

If it's spent competently like when Abramovich forked out £millions on Drogba, Robben, Essien, Carvalho, etc. or when Real Madrid bought Ronaldo & co. then it's going to be difficult to keep up unless we keep pulling rabbits out of hats or completely change our strategy.

So yes - we CAN compete with rich teams if their money is spent incompetently like Liverpool did, Baba. But if it's spent well, then it's a different matter.

IMO we could cut £40m out of our wage bill just by getting rid of shit. That would buy a new world class player every season. It is doable on our current business model. Remember why we moved to the Emirates... to spend on players. Now we can't compete with City and Madrid etc, but we can still buy better players than Park and Chamakh.

Bendtner - £2.5m pa
Denilson - £2.5m pa
Diaby - £3m pa
Vela - £1m pa
Almunia - £3m pa
Chamakh - £3m pa
Park - £2m pa
Gervinho - £3m pa
Gazidis - £1m pa (NO BONUS)
Squillaci - £3m pa
Djourou - £2m pa
Fabianski - £1m pa

That's £27m pa for starters...

Really? There's a point in there somewhere but...
Considering the cash Chelski have spent on Mata, Torres, Ramires, Cahill etc...you still haven't explained how Arsenal are ahead of them?

I've personally had enough of hearing Arsenal fans bitching about money.
I'm sick if hearing what we "cannot" do.
That's bullshit Gazidis feeds y'all.

How rich is Kroenke?
How rich is Usmanov?
What's our wage bill again?
What's Wenger salary?

Just been in contact with my source in Liverpool and apparently Martinez is set to be offered the job although no one wants him!

good thing Wenger doesnt work there, he wouldnt have lasted until September this season

Which no ther team took seriously (as European commitments outweigh by far - Victims had no euro to bother about)

Which goes to show just how piss poor the England team / squad currently is.
