Dalglish sacked... or maybe walked

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

And Dave Whelan confirms that he has given the Mickeys permission to speak to Martinez. Incredible - a supposed big club offering a job to a man whose sole achievement is to get his team playing between March and May and scraping survival in the top flight.

Good old Mickeys - long may they continue to keep treading on that same rake :barscarf:

We shouldnt laugh.......a load of our fans are still supporting wenger for getting his team to have a similar short run of victories

Maybe, but if Wenger was gone and the Board were considering appointing One Month Wonder Martinez, I think I'd be one step nearer the asylum

Martinez is a good boss. Gets his team playing good football on a budget. Very articulate and good with the press. Appears intelligent and at least in the last couple of months, tactically outwitted some good bosses. Seems quite headstrong and committed to his beliefs. He laid the foundations at Swansea for their current success. Wigan had a crap first half of the season but they were heavily affected by injuries and always sell their best players. He'll be a big success IMO.

Sounds like the criteria that appeal to Ivan and Stan :D

He is the ultimate Moneyball manager. That is what FSG are all about. Trust me. They spunked £100m when they first came in, but most of that was recouped on Torres. They also had to make a statement to win over the fans. Most of the players are young anyway, so they will get most of their money back. Martinez is the man that will turn them into the next Arsenal (top 4 specialists, selling their best players each season).

Love the fact he gets the sack on the same day Roy Hodgson announces England's Euro2012 squad
