just read the RVP article.

it has got me thinking :hmmthink:

is it in Kroenke's best interests to sell RVP?
We would make another fantastic profit, Podolski can come in and with Jack back we should be competing for the all important top 4 again. So will there be pressure on Wenger from Kroenke not to sell RVP? Possibly not.

and that is why I think the board is the biggest problem at Arsenal not the manager.

Is this going to be the RvP contract talks thread?

Why not?

From today's papers seems RvP is holding out.
For more money?
To see what players we buy.

Ball is in your court Mr Wenger and Mr Gazidis.

I think we have to set a deadline for RvP to sign. If not, it affects our whole summer's spending, and we would be left having to buy players in a rush like last summer.

Tuesday 10th July. Just over a week after the end of the Euros.
Enough time for RvP to fly back and have discussions, and for us to bring in player so that they can take part in pre season games.
Which begin in Malaysia on 24th July.

No player is bigger than the club, and as much as he is a super striker, we cannot let his contract talks derail our summer and following season.

Arsenal Insider blog makes a case for RvP leaving.

"Van Persie’s words, when interviewed after the West Bromwich game, were understandably non-committal, although they certainly hinted that he might be on his way. However, his actions after the last home match of the season, versus Norwich, seems to leave less doubt.

The match, and the lap of appreciation, were all done and dusted by 3 p.m., but van Persie stayed at the ground until 6 p.m., during which time he had photos taken of him all over the place with different things, such as the statues outside, and with all the people he knew at the ground. The conclusion would be that he did not anticipate being around to get the opportunity again.

Interestingly though, for the away game at West Brom, as with every other away game, the club had directorial invites from their hosts, but as has been a regularity in recent seasons, nobody from Arsenal wanted to go… apart from Ivan Gazidis. But Gazidis did not watch the game alone, as he was accompanied by van Persie’s wife. You can draw your own conclusion as to why she was at the game, although after the Arsenal captain’s post-Norwich marathon photo session, the idea that she wanted to be present at her husband’s final match for the club he had served for eight years seems highly plausible."

I agree with Quartz - the club need to set a deadline and sort this out one way or the other. Yes the guy is head and shoulders above everyone else in our sqaud and the club captain, but this can not be allowed to develop in the way that the Cesc and Nasri sales were handled. Mid-July is late enough. If its new signings he's waiting for then go and fucking make them. If its more money, get the best deal the club is willing to give drawn up and on the table.

I've never been swayed from the view that he is going to leave, so lets deal with it and move on
