I knew this would be a toughie to answer but considering the goals, assists and general all round contribution during a wonderful era, I am surprised Henry hasn't had more support. But for me it is a straight fight between Tony and Dennis and as much as I still even now worship Dennis, the No.1 legend status has to go to Tony

Why does Babtunde never post in threads like these? To be fair to augie, Donaldo, me and others who have had enough of Wenger and modern day Arsenal you can see the love of Arsenal coming through but with Baba you cant, its almost like he's a scum supporter

Yeah? Thats great. he used to say he was his fave player till Bergkamp came along. My dad passed in 2001 so didnt get to see the invincibles Henry, Pires and all at the height of their powerOneBardGooner wrote:Wow!! Re: If you had to pick one legend.......
This question comes up every few months and is impossible to answer. In 71 I would have said Bob Wilson, seriously without him we would not have won the double, but so many of that team were my heroes, esp Graham and Radford, but geordy Armstrong was one of the best wingers we ever had, then of cousre Chippy
. Then in the modern era Paddy's tackles, Freddy's underpants, Thierry in so many games but esp against the scum and the bindippers, Dennis scoring that goal, RvP and the Everton goals....
Impossible.

Impossible.

David Seaman deserves a mention, okay he aint the greatest baller ever to have played but he was a true legend between the sticks and you got to admit, saying you love Seaman does kind of feel kinky. Seamam Seaman Up ther Arse, Seaman, Up the Arse

I'm surprised that David O'Leary didn't get much of a mention.

Re: If you had to pick one legend.......
I'd say Adams edges out Bergkamp then a small gap to Wright who edges out Henry & then a big gap to everyone else, however I've only been a supporter since the late 80's so I can't say anything about the players from the 70's.

Re: If you had to pick one legend.......
Henry.
All-time top scorer. An Invincible. Came back 8 years later at the age of 33(?) and made an impact both on the field and in the dressing room. Made people believe in Arsenal again during a tumultuous period. Has been loyal to the club during his departure and continues to be involved with us, and likely will be again too in the future. He has a sparkle in his eye when he talks about Arsenal and loves this club immensely.
Some people aren't born in London, nor were lucky enough to start at Arsenal. I don't think "one club" should be the deciding factor. However, I wasn't able to see Adams in his prime but I know his loyalty to Arsenal was paramount in his time.
Pat Rice is an honorable mention. Non-goalscoring players will never be remembered like forwards, and he is too humble and quiet to ever be a spotlight taker. But his service to the club has been second to none, and he's given everything both as player and personnel.
