Big matches

Post by Irish Gooner »

Tonight reminded me once again, about how long its been since we've been in big matches the CL finals, FA Cup finals, League deciders. We havent watched our team in one in several years, the league cup to my mind isnt the same anymore but 07 vs Chelsea was a big match I think.

Not so long ago we were in cup finals and league deciders on a regular basis. We are not involved anymore, the last few weeks watching City, United Chelsea and the realisation set it that these days our involvement is picking which side we want to win them.

This might be a shit thread but I'm sure I'm not the only one that misses our battles against United, cup finals etc. Battling for 4th against Villa Newcastle and Spurs is the not the same.

I want those nights back again....sickening to watch Chelsea win that tonight. Within tweo years of the Invincible season we moved home so we could still compete with the new rich clubs. We havn't and it's fucking painfull.

Yes it is very depressing. But what makes it even more depressing is that I can honestly not see it changing for many years – or as long as Wenger and the current board stay in charge. I do not believe any of them think in the way you have just described. None of the board will lose sleep over what has happened tonight - like we all will. None of them will have the fire in their bellies to turn this around and put Arsenal back where it belongs. They are utterly negligent in their running of the Club when it comes to the ambition for success. It is very sad but very true. We have a manager that goes on about lighting up the stadium at night to act as an iconic symbol for London. I think Chelsee have done a bit more than that tonight. Concentrate on the performances on the pitch Wenger, not on the periphery.

Are you saying a glamour fixture against Wigan isn't a big match?
