The thing is Chelski have done it now with a CARETAKER manager. In my eyes Wenger now has nowhere to hide, this great club is well overdue a European Cup (proper) glory. I think it will act as a catalyst for Arsenal to push on and win it. I for one have had the feeling every year since 08 have just thought we were going through the motions in this competition, casing our fat pay offs from the competition and haven’t seen any real desire from any of the players to perform.

Like I said now that Chelski have won it now and now they are #1, top dogs, cream of the crop etc etc in Europe. Next season has to all be about Wenger not accepting this and doing everything humanly possible using ALL of the financial means available to him to assemble a squad capable of dismantling Chelskis legacy double quick time.

All of the anger im reading here for Chelski winning it will undoubtedly manifest itself onto the terraces next season, and All I can say is that is a good thing as it means the team should be rightly afraid of a defeat in Europe now.

To sort of paraphrase from the great manager of Europe himself Brian Clough;

Chelski have won the competition now, so next year Arsenal have to go and win it better.
Why would Wenger do this? He had a warning in 2008 when the Chavs nearly won it but for Terry hitting the post, that SHOULD have been his wake up call, but no, it wasn't and now we get them *word censored* winning it before us, it makes me sick when you see the teams that Wenger has had in the past. :banghead: :banghead:

For me that's the difference between a truly great Manager like Ferguson and merely a good coach like Wenger - Ferguson refuses to accept City and Chelsea's wealth as an excuse for even coming second, whilst Wenger heralds finishing top 4 as a heroic achievement and has us all believe that its impossible to compete with them
My niece is a student who works part-time at Manure in the players lounge. They had an award dinner a couple of days after the City victory and Fergie received a round of applause as he got up on stage. Apparently he told them not to clap him as he hasn't won anything and doesn't deserve it. He also said next year they will take the trophy back.

There is a big difference in the mentality of the two. Fergie wont celebrate anything less than first place and his squad do not think top four is a trophy.

As soon as you make excuses for anything, you might as well give up. Wenger started it years ago. Once the players heard that, they were never going to have that ruthless will to win. They see their Boss doing it. There's always a reason for failure. :banghead:

I love that mentality.... for all the hate i have for fergie you cant help but admire his attitude and record of winning things. I always remember someone from the George Graham era saying if a player had done an air shot or fucked an easy chance and walked away laughing he used to go mental, i love that attitude of not accepting second best.
