Hazard is a classic Wenger move in the transfer market.Make a bid for a player we have no chance of getting. So he can turn around and say we tried to get him :banghead: :banghead:

We will sign Kalou though......................................He's Free

N1Goon, you need to charge your mobile phone battery mate

It is something I have feared for a long long time but can I say yet again please please please dont sign kalou - we have more than a fair share of useless african c**ts who will be fcuking off to the acn for a month again this season and in fact if we could also get rid of the two that we already have then that would be better again 8) Of course the fact that kalou is african and on a freebie means that we are almost sure to sign him     :banghead:

Agree - we've become the new Spurs when it comes to the nearly men signings

Wenger has been an admirer of Kalou for years now, and being available on a free is his wet dream. Super quality !

I know it is far from the realms of reality as far as Arsenal signings go but I see in todays daily mail that citeeh are closing in on javi martinez from bilboa as they are meeting the £24m get out clause  He is, for me at least, a great great player and would improve our midfield immensely so would love to see him sign for us. The thing is though, that citeeh and barca (who are also heavily linked with him) both intend using him as a centre back - he is currently "filling in" there for bilboa but for me he looks out of place there and can get caught up the field at times (sound familiar) but in midfield where he usually plays and where he played last summer for spain under 21s, he is outstanding

I couldn't agree more with augie. Martinez looks a decent CB but is a top DM, with a bit of creativity thrown in, and he's a big unit as well. If he is available for 24mil we should go for it. He looks to have more about him than M'Vila.

On yesterday's Euro 2012 preview show there was a feature on M'Vila. He looks a similar player to De Jong. Strong, hard tackler, good positioning but a bit limited elsewhere on the pitch. However, still miles better than Song and would give some proper protection to our back four.

He might actually help Song. Song's got a bit about him, but lacks discipline. Having someone who actually does his job could unburden Song of that defensive duty he so neglects.

Have seen that Chelski are going to release Bosingwa, as well as Kalou. We desperately need decent back up for Bacary and, while he's not the world's best RB as some were claiming when the Chavs bought him, he's a known quantity, is experienced in the PL, already lives in London, and would be free and would take some of the pressure off of Sagna. I've not heard tell of any other RBs out there and Jenkinson clearly isn't ready yet.

Martinez would be far and away my number 1 choice but if m'vila is a strong hard tackling and positionally aware DM then that would more than do the job as far as I am concerned cos we would have arteta, rosicky, wilshire (hopefully) and maybe a new attacking midfielder to do the creative work 8)

Rigsby, I know that you are a fan of song but imo having somebody to do that DM job that song is so shit at, negates the need for song - you say that it would release him cos he has a bit about him but that bit still doesnt make him as good as the others I have mentioned to fill the attacking jobs

I'm not patricularly a fan of him, I just think he gets a lot more flack on here than he deserves.

The lad is clearly a good player. His issue is he doesn't stay back, but I could see him playing in between the attacking and the DM. He hold sthe ball up well, can tackle, and can play a damn fine through ball. I would certainly have him at the club.

I'd say that Song is a good squad player, but his passing isn't all that. He gives the ball away too often for me and really lacks discipline, but I could say that equally about Vermaelen - who too often thought that he was a striker while Song thought that he was Fabregas too often.

If we could offload the dross that is Bend, Chamakh, Park etc, Then Kalou would be an excellent squad player for a club like ours, ie one that sees clge qualification as it's only footballing ambition.
