I think if a player gets injured/badly damaged (broken leg etc) and is out for the season or whatever, the player who did it If found guilty and red carded should also be put on the sidelines for the same amount of time the injured party is out, eith that or have their body part injured (medically) to the same degree....Harsh and Crazy Yes! but Fair

Agreed but that means Shawcross and Taylor got off lightly as opposed to Barton getting treated badly. They should have got at least the same as Barton and Barton deserves everything he got
No they shouldnt have got the same as Barton because Bartons offences dont compare with leg breaking tackles. What Shawcross and Taylor did was threaten a players career.Barton did nothing of the sort.As i said Barton is a but not a leg breaking
Barton didnt think at the moment he knees Aguero oh ill knee him and then i wont do any damage and in the same way i dont think Shawcross thought if i follow that ball through and sling my leg at it im going to shatter Ramseys leg!!! What im saying is all 3 incidents are reckless and deserve big punishments but Bartons was almost premeditated it wasnt an in game tackle, he was sent off at least 1 or 2 minutes before he assaulted Aguero, you could say thats worse
Joseph Barton - renaissance man, social commentator, erudite wit, unreconstructed thug and recidivist of the highest order.
If he were say, a brickie or a sparky, then he'd be banged up for years based on his rather long history of quite savage violence towards others. I wouldn't call him any of this to his face though.
I think 12 games is ridiculously harsh - media hate him
a) because he's a dreadful wee scote but
b) because he doesn't fit their preset chav footballer mould,
middle class hacks can hero worship Shrek or StevieMe -
secure in the condescending knowledge the pair of them couldn't think their way out of a paper bag.
Barton is slated for crimes like reading books then saying things from them...
hardly his worst crime but its nonetheless one of the main sources of bile

JD,
No, he's slated for (in no particular order):
1) Stubbing a cigar out in someone's eye
2) Attacking a team-mate from behind, knocking him out, and continuing to beat him for which he received a suspended sentence.
3) Attacking someone in a city cenntre so badly he knocked out several teeth (watch the you tube footage, it's savage)
I can't be arsed to go through the whole rap sheet but there are at last 20 'indiscretions' and none of them regard quoting Morrrisey.

Preset mould? no offense mate but he enjoys hurting people. We're talking about respectable behaviour as a human being.
Maybe some of us don't believe he was as reformed as he led many to believe. What he has needs genuine treatment, he can't control his temper.
I do think the FA do not like him personally, nor do referees. But he shows very little remorse for his actions. I don't believe what he said after the city game was particularly remorseful, for me that shows, that he still belives he is intitled to be violent when the moment calls, or when he gets an urge.
But the PFA have offered him further 'help' I hope he takes up the offer.
barton is a piece of human excretment he got exactly what he deserved its in his blood that hes scum he has a half brother doing time for the murder of a young black kid.So how anyone can make excuses for him is beyond me .

'enjoys hurting people' is a pretty open-ended phrase
if it wasn't Barton somebody might say 'gets stuck in' or 'can look after himself'
he's not the first and won't be the last player to lose his temper on the pitch
makes me sick to see Shearer (who hates Barton anyway) trying to preach
he fouled players off the ball for his whole career ('could look after himself')
and when the FA thought about charging him for stamping on Neil Lennon's head (far more likely to cause serious damage than anything Barton did) Shearer said he would refuse to play for England

JD,
You seem to be wilfully ignoring the facts pertainig to Joe Barton. The reason he wasn't banged up for the Dabo incident was that he was already serving a prison stretch.
I repeat, if you have seen the footage of his assault for which he was jailed then I would say yes, he does enjoy hurting people. If he was Jonathan Foreigner he would've been hounded out of the game but because he is English it's "oh it's OK, he's only showing passion".
Shearer is irrelevant as a pundit as he was nasty as a player, but that's neither here nor there.
I haven't heard anyone say 'oh it's ok he was showing passion'
I agree foriegn players generally get a much tougher ride - Rooney wasn't booked all effing season!
but in Barton's case I think his behaviour on the pitch is massively analysed
as I said he's a mug but in this case I'm judging him 100% on the ManCity on pitch incidents,
not his previous of cigars and punchups
Every time he goes back to Liverpool and goes out he gets in trouble, the media can report the facts as a mugging as much as they want but at the end of the day he's a pissed-up thug with pages of form out on the street at half 5 in the morning, I'd be genuinely astonished if he played no part in it at all. He'll probably be loving the attention because it's an excuse for him to take to Twitter and point out how he's victimised and misunderstood.
