Blatter wants to do away with penalty shoot outs

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

The Daily mail nicked my idea's for the alternative to Penalty Shoot outs! :banghead: :banghead:
Block 5 Gooner (B5G) ‏@Block_5_Gooner
@TheSunFootball @seppblatter-> Paper, scissors & stones. That or Kerplunk!

Block 5 Gooner (B5G) ‏@Block_5_Gooner
@TheSunFootball @seppblatter. In seriousness I think we should follow the lead of Ice hockey. 1 on 1 with the GK from the half way line.

Block 5 Gooner (B5G) ‏@Block_5_Gooner
@TheSunFootball @seppblatter. Alternative would be at extra time, each team removes a player (10 vs 10). Then every 5 minutes another leaves

Block 5 Gooner (B5G) ‏@Block_5_Gooner
@TheSunFootball @seppblatter by the last 5 minutes (the 25th of ET) it's 5 vs 5 on a full size pitch. The question is who do you take off.
See the Snails list! :banghead:

If the alternative is to have the captains get into their kit the quickest the chavs still would have won

Terry's had practice at getting his kit on in a hurry. Especially that day Wayne Bridge came home early from training.

Imo a good idea to remove penalty shoot outs.

Would like something like a 3v3.
3 offensive players from one team try to score against 3 defensive players from the other team for half a minute and then change. 3-4 chances per team and it wouldn't even take that much time 8)

You've given me a thought! Playground games

Wembley doubles.
So a neutral GK is brought in. So the the CL final after extra time would have been Almunia in goal  with Robben & Olic Versus Drogba & Mata.

My favourite would be....60 seconds, headers & volleys!

For those not familiar it's the whole team versus the opposite keeper and they have to score either a header or a volley in 60 sec. (Given modern day technology the keeper doesn't have to count! )
The count down starts and the team have to score 1 goal. Once scored the clock is reset and two goals are needed.
The team with the most goals scored wins!

You can't beat the drama of good penalty shootout!

I'm against this goal line tech as it will take all the controversy out of the game

I'd love to see it like ice hockey. Ball on the centre spot, you have nine seconds to put it in the net.

As part of UEFA's new rules I can exclusively reveal that in the event of the scores being level after 120 minutes then the winners will be the side that holds the moral high ground and has the most sustainable business model

Here comes the Treble

The NASL did this and the MLS did it too when the league first started.
