As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.
have to agree with safc boy about ffp
and not just because of the big clubs worries:
but also because of the next generation issues -
if Roman pops it there's nothing to stop his Mrs withdrawing the dosh from Chelski and spending her inheritance on art,
what happens if the Arab spring extends to overthrowing all the middle-eastern monarchies?
any club running a big structural deficit is massively exposed to sudden defunding
wage bills at 100% turnover, turnover artificially inflated by owners + the football creditor rule where players have to be paid would mean the petro-clubs if defunded would pretty much cease to exist...

Why would Mrs Abramovic pull the money out of chelsea is Roman pops his clogs? chelsea is worth money if it were to be sold on, so why would she leave it to shit? She would sell it (to give herself more money to buy art) to another rich owner who would probably not want his investment going to shit either and the cycle continues. FFP will mean fuck all and UEFA will be worth fuck all if they bring it in excluding the big clubs from their premier competition as those clubs will go off and make their own super league or whatever fucking UEFA over. FFP is in no-ones interest except Arsenal by the looks of it
This is a thought that has crossed my mind many times, imagine if the spuds were taken over, it could quite easily happen.
Or what if the Utd fell into the hands of someone with real money they were willing to spend, they are already the biggest club in the world and attracting the worlds top players would not be a problem.
It is probably only a matter of time until it happens, the frustrating thing is we have a shareholder with such wealth, it's about time he put his money where his mouth is and made Kroenke an offer.
Don't think Chelski are worth money. Roman buys half the tickets in one stand, they advertise seats on CL nights, their wage bill is insane, they are a loss making operation.

Are you telling me that if Abramovic put the european champions (sickening isnt it ) up for sale tomorrow there wouldnt be a taker? We both know the answer

The mackem is spot on. The group even has a name and as far as I recall citeh are not part of it but Chelsea are - ECA, European clubs association...
So it's ironic that Chelsea winning the CL might be the incentive for a UEFA. Breakaway, though I read that that does not necessarily mean an FA or FIFA breakaway.
Oddly enough, I had a rather disturbing dream the other night where Usmanov finally got pissed off with the way he's been treated by the Arsenal board, sells his shares to Kroenke, and then takes over Sp*rs (partly for revenge and partly because he wants to own a premier league team) and bankrolls them to European glory

If it's any consolation, I've decided never to sleep again after that hideous nightmare.
