I see the Van Persie convo is going on over a couple of threads now but I'll post here to stop McDowells head getting any bigger J/K

Firstly I would be against keeping him to see out the remaining year of his contract as I don't think it's in the best interest of the club financially and on the pitch. With his record of injuries I can't see him giving his best and it would be a huge risk for him to take. He would not need to be at his best either to get a bumper deal from somewhere with a large signing on fee. If he wants to go sell him to a club on the continent as I can't see it being in Arsenal's best interest to sell him to any of our closer rivals and it's a policy I think we should stop where we can.

I see nothing wrong with the club selling his shirt. If they took them off the market what would that achieve ?
Anybody who buys the shirt cannot complain as it's the risk they take. Usual blame culture but the same can be said for any player's shirt.

I also would not blame the guy for leaving. I don't believe he owes us anything and its a short career and his priority is what's best for him and his family.
If he wants to go, let him and hopefully the club will replace him with quality.

We have been sending the wrong signals out for what seems like forever! 'They' simply operate in the real world where this 'saga' you refer to is actually their life / what they do for a living. Being from Holland and not being a north Londoner means that RVP isn't an Arsenal addict like the rest of us. He can walk away from Arsenal, go elsewhere and his world will not suddenly fall apart or come to an end because arsenal is not in it!! Do not blame RVP, this is, as ever, Wenger's fault. He lets contracts run down, expects blind loyalty from players and yet gives them nothing in return by way of improving the squad. Forget all the bollocks about whether we want russian or arab benefactors spending big money on our team....the fact of the matter is that the best players do because they want to win things (they are professional sportsmen remember!!) and they will therefore head off to richer pickings if you neglect them. I hope by some miracle things do change for the better but the man continues to display the defensive tactical awareness of a moron. It's not the failure to win things that gets my goat its the refusal to address the blatantly obvious shortcomings in our game. Feel a rant coming on so will stop now.
