Euro 2012

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Not quite sure why the croats are high-fiving at half-time. Looks like they're taking the Irish a little lightly to me :rubchin:

I dont claim to be any kind of expert on goalkeeping but did anyone else think Given was slow as fuck to react, move his feet and get down for that one?

Not a big fan of international football but as an Irishman I will say that trappatoni is a rotten no good for nothing c**t  We have maybe 4 players playing ok and he takes one of them off (doyle) and leaves on that pikey cart-wheeling c**t of a captain who does fcuk all  He then takes off his left winger and instead of bringing on McClean who has been playing well on the left wing for the mackems, he brings on cox who is a striker for west brom but not just a striker but a striker that cant get a fcuking game for west brom    :banghead:

I gave up on trap when I seen his unwillingness to give coleman, McCarthy (wigan), McClean and a few other young Irish players a chance even in friendlies and stuck with old *word censored* that were not good enough at their peak much less now

I also agree about this mythical view of Ireland's support. For some reason the Irish are viewed world-wide as some sort of utopian race. Why? Where does this come from? My experience of the Irish is that they are are largely feckless, arrogant, un-trustworthy cretins. There are clearly some nice guys out there, but they are the most arrogant race I've ever come across. As for their "harmless, couldn't hurt a fly reputation". They are a bunch of loud mouths always at the centre of attention. The UK has about as much in common with the Irish as we do with Papua New Guinea. To the Irish I have a question. If you're so great and Ireland is such a great place, why don't you fuck off back there? Sell all your Irish Pubs around the world, give up your council flat in Liverpool, your caravan in Essex and your apartment in Boston, Massachusetts and fuck off back to the Blarney Stone. No?????? Why not?????? Yeah, because Ireland is fucked financially and you'd rather ponce off the rest of the World.

Oh, Papua New Guinea. Best fans in the world. They get right behind their team and they aren't they just so funny.

Remember, history is written by the winners. That's why the English textbooks haven't been updated since 1966

I don't mind the Irish, a lot of them tend to be decent lads. Equally there are a fair number of wankers but then thats true of anywhere. I do get sick, however, of British television acting as if they are, for some reason, supposed to drop any semblance of impartiality and act as if Ireland are a side that the British supporters should be cheering for. The vast majority of ITV's viewers are English and, in case they haven't realised, Ireland fans don't like England in the slightest (certainly not the football team, many dont like the country). The England team bus arrives and the team get boos from the Ireland fans and they get Irish freedom songs sung at them etc, every Ireland fan there (just about) will be supporting France tomorrow, there is still a small minority underbelly of Irish who want to see English people suffer much worse fate than seeing their football team beaten but for some reason we're supposed to be supporting Ireland and wanking ourselves off about how great and friendly their fans are. If it was Scotland, Wales or NI then fair enough, they're British so British television needs to act as if we're all supporting them but there's no need to do that with Ireland.
