Henry missing his daughter in London

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

I just think people should cut the guy some slack. Ian Wright said he'd finish his career at Arsenal but didn't, Vieira did the same. It's football and things change. I see it as a little 2 faced for people to idolise someone as the Arsenal fans did only to turn on him as soon as he walks out the door. In my eyes the man is still a god and i will never slate him.

Henry is a Arsenal legend!
I've made mistakes and an odd sin or two but I've never lied to millions like Thierry

Now he is no longer at the club people appear to dislike the man. I cannot forget that easily. The man was and is a Legend and should be treated as such and not slated by the people that used to idolise him.
Was it ex PM Harold Wilson who once said that "A week is a long time as an Arsenal fan"

I'm sure Thierry truely wanted to stay at the time but the situation meant that he couldn't. I think our time would be better questioning the integrity of others like the little crunts at Chelski or Spurs rather than a former Arsenal player and Legend.

Think this is a pure case of that he realises how well Arsenal are doing with out him and poor old Thierry is not the centre of attention anymore!!

We don't need him back....our boys have come into their own since his departure and now have confidence as players without being in his shadow!

Don't get me wrong I used to think Thierry was fantastic but he's gone now and Arsenal have moved on without him and are doing fine without him too. :)
Well said, he only has himself to blame.

Again I can only agree with the above. In the last few years henry was all about henry and now he has no fans making a fuss about him, no team-mates making a fuss about him and no wife and kid making a fuss about him and the poor mite is lonely  If you ask me all of the above are better off without him and no that aint no vote of confidence for billy big boots adebayor either
I'll go and cheer him up

If he is missing his daughter I could totally understand his feeling depressed by the current situation but I think he is missing being the big fish in the pond every bit as much.
I know I'm going to sound like one of our girly members here when I say " He should have kept it in his trousers and he wouldn't have these problems".
I'll always love Thierry as a top Gunner but he made his choice, for whatever reason, and now he has to live with it. I can't feel sorry for him in that respect. I hope he finds a way to resolve his issues and I hope he continues as the player we knew.

With the amount of times Cesc, Hleb etc have said the team is better off without him this season, i wouldnt be surprised if he knew his time was up. Wenger doesnt hold onto to people past their sell-by-date and his personal issues probably added to the decision. You can't fault a great player for wanting to try different leagues - the one's who stay are usually Arsenal born and bred. I'm surprised he didnt leave earlier - i think Arsenal needed his face to open the Emirates and sell the flats.

I still wouldnt want to see him anywhere else in England but i think he's said he'd like to come back to Arsenal in some future role.

Fair point. Their wages probably don't cost nearly as much (i was thinking of Freddie). Gilberto quickly went from possible captain to bench and will be out in the summer. Nor did they have as many options i.e. Barca offering to pay £16mill for them. I just think he didn't desert us - it was more mutual than that.

I agree I think AW persuaded TH to leave for the good of the team and his own career, and we would not have got 16M for him if Barca had known that he was effectively forced out!

I mean what about those excuses he made, missin DD and not bein sure whether AW was gonna stay  , does anybody seriously think, lookin back that he was bein serious, the DD thing was pathetic and all he had to do was ask AW if he even needed to, anyway I'm 100% certain that the truth over his transfer will be revealed in the near future!

I have little sympathy for the great man. His marriage troubles appear to have been all his own fault. He engineered himself a move from Arsenal, where he had just signed a long-term contract. I'm sure he misses his daughter as any absent father would, but he chose to go to Barcelona and leave Arsenal. The only people with a right to whinge here are Claire and Tea. Sorry Thierry, you made your bed, now lie in it.
