Euro 2012

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

The Irish have got nothing to point to as their own Clubs are never in Europe. The national team have their fair share of trouble-makers of which I have first-hand experience. So don't preach to me about nationalism. Don't tell me anything about the English national psyche. I'm not fucking interested in your views. They're irrelevant. Who the hell rattled your cage. The Mrs getting a rodgering from a Mick

Personally I think your commentators rage about the Irish support because the tavelling support actually party and mix with the locals. The beer goes down and the smiles get bigger.
Unlike the innits who moan that they can't get a Yorkshire pudding or a fry or warm beer and when the beer goes down the aggression comes out and the fight begins.

Both supporters reputation are well deserved and I think you need to build a bridge   :D

Nah mate. Your sterotyping is pathetic. The English supporters these days mingle with the locals and don't cause rows. Shows how clueless you really are. Football hooligans don't follow England anymore. Euro 2000 was the end of all that. Football Violence is finished.

I broke a couple of ribs there laughing

Yeah great strides have been made with the hooligan element and kudos to the authorities for that.

Yeah, I saw that the Irish lads had ignored that one. :rubchin: I remember going on holiday with my parents to Spain years ago. We were having some lunch in a massive Irish pub called the Irish Indalo. The place would open till 3am in the morning, heaving with mainly Irish holidaymakers. Anyway, a woman came in and asked the Barman if a handbag had been handed in. It was full of all the woman's currency and other worldly possessions. "No" came the answer from the Barman. The reason he gave for the missing bag... "That will be the demon drink." So, having loads of drinks makes someone nick a handbag. :rubchin: Summed up the Irish mentality for me. I have one good Irish mate. The rest I've met have caused nothing but shit and have had the arrogance of Arsene Wenger.

To be honest, this thread has just helped me while away a couple of hours of boredom. Of course not all Irish are arrogant travelling thieves with a tendency to follow Ireland away and partake in good-humoured raucous drinking. I do however get annoyed at the tendency of people to fall over themselves to arse-lick the Irish, yet completely denigrate all of the England fans and our national team. It's a lazy stereotype to describe us as hooligans who think England are the best team in the World. Where this idea comes from, I don't know. Pretty much everyone in England thinks our national side is a laughing stock. FACT. As for our support, the guys that follow England are either in their 20s or 40 somethings still living at home with Mum and Dad. Any known hooligan is banned and the rest don't see the point as Football Violence is over.

The early stages of the argument had Reb involved who is a Mod and is Irish.
He decided to let it run so I have let him take the lead.

Please PM him if you want to discuss the thread.

Are you talking about the bigotry towards the English? References to EDL... to English football hooligans, to rape and pillage in previous generations... :rubchin:

Works both ways mate. FACT.
