If Wenger left ?

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

I think Stan Kroenke has Wenger by the balls and repeatedly reminds him not to spend too much in the transfer window. Steve Bould is the new assistant manager so maybe he could convince Wenger to change some of his policies.
Wenger's project was already in place prior to Kroenke...and why would would Wenger now choose a number 2 who's going to question him? Doesn't make sense.

Is it to much of a coincidence that Remi Garde has just extended his contract to 2014 at Lyon?

I've wanted Wenger to move upstairs for a couple years now, as along with the board he's been coasting. Yet, when he can be arsed he is a great coach. The team is average at best yet by hook or by fulop we went from 15th in October to 3rd by March, in the most competitive season in 20 years. No manager in the league, apart from fergie, probably, could do that. This is where the dilemma lies, we are a top 4 side because of Wenger, yet we are no longer a top 2 side because of Wenger.I would really like to know is it Wenger who refuses to buy world class players, or the board refusing to pay for them? It is no coincidence that the team that started the season , ended it due to injuries to three key players we bought on the last day of the august window, which tells me those players haven't learned a thing all season.

Just playing devils advocate here but surely if it is a straight fight between the board and Wenger for the blame. Why would you believe a quote about what Wenger said when the only evidence that he ever said it is an interview with Hill Wood?

Surely this cant be fun for Wenger. I mean we lost 8v2 last season and he gives Djourou a new contract who played really well in that game !
If I had managed an unbeaten side and won doubles going into 2006 I would have expected to win more and more. He looks like a clown in interviews and finally players who leave us are doing well.
Pressure in the upcoming season will be massive especially now we all know how much the trash is costing the club i.e. Chamkah and co.
I just dont see the point in managing a club like Arsenal when at least half of the fans simply understand that the glory days and well and truely over under this manager.

At the risk of repeating myself: p45 for Arsene and bring in (deep breath) Jurgen Klopp, Unai Emery, de Boer, Hiddink, Heynckes, Van Basten, Bielsa.

None of the above are out of reach, barring compensation. If we are in Fantasy land then chuck Guardiola's name into the hat too. I've said previously that Lambert or Rodgers would have done a decent job but they have moved on already.

I simply find it inconceivable that there are people still banging the 'only Wenger can manage us' drum, it's like the Manson Family and quite creepy.

.......or get's the sack.

It is not only at the Emirates than American tycoon Kroenke is suffering, his NFL side had a season to forget too.

While Arsenal currently lurch from one terrible result to another, American businessman Stan Kroenke must be wondering if it is all worth it.

Did a black cat run across his path when he was walking under a ladder?

Luck, and good management, is certainly not on the side of his sports teams.

The St Louis Rams had an awful year in the NFL.

Out of 16 regular season games, they won just two, recording a 2-14 record, the joint worst with the Indianapolis Colts.

Kroenke's solution? Sack the coach.

He hired Jeff Fisher who had a winning record at the Tennessee Titans, and new offensive and defensive co-ordinators from the New York Jets and the New Orleans Saints.

So does this mean Arsene Wenger should be worried for his position?

Possibly. His number may not be up yet but it might not be too much longer.

Kroenke does not own Arsenal, he is just the majority shareholder with 62 per cent.

But with Russian oligarch Alisher Usmanov believed to want to up his stake in the club, Kroenke will be under pressure to act decisively.

After all, supporter unrest is seemingly at an all-time high, and he will not want to look weak.

He very rarely gives interviews or gets involved in the club's running, but Kroenke will not want to be associated with unsuccessful teams forever.

Please, please, please none of this Wenger upstairs nonsense, when he's finally (hopefully) sacked he can fuck right off, so we can get the whole of his ethos and ways out of the club once and for all.

Absolutely frank - manure can testify that moving a successful manager upstairs does not work cos they tried it with busby and it failed miserably. When you change managers at a club, whether through a sacking or resignation, it has to be a clean break and not have the previous manager looming in the background and having player loyalties split between their old and new managers
