I mean some people moan all th etime about Wenger buying prospects and 5 year olds from Chad, but when we are potentially about to sign a talented and versatile player WHO WANTS to play for Arsenal can we not be a little more happy in our attitude.

I welcome the young lad and hope he has a long and successful career scoring goals for Arsenal.
It seems to me people just want be negative for the sake of being negative at times on here sadly.

Giroud deal to be announced 'within the next 48 hours'
Serious question - Is Giroud better than Bendtner? :?

Going by what Babs says I'm unsure.

Again, I've never seen Giroud play but I'm currently underwhelmed by this purchase.
and you believe Baba? The biggest Anti gooner in the history of mankind,

Absolutely loving this - Theo's raring to sit that pine! Am I the only one who finds it hysterical that the Ox is in ahead of Theo?

I also wonder if he is off this summer as well...
I would love it if Walcott was to go, in fact I would knock one out on the strength, I really can't stand to see him or his silly gay like clap he does to the crowd when he eventually gets hooked..

going by what babs says I'd say he's a bitter spud on the WUM but everyone on here is so cynical they'll buy anything he says. fuck it, part of being a football fan is getting optimistic about a new season every fucking year even if there isn't anything to be happy about .

French bloke that I work with reckons that Giroud is le bollocks. Whether he's right or not, I don't know. Just thought I'd throw in the opinion of someone who knows exponentially more about the French league than I do.

He's blatantly going to be a replacement for RvP, by the way...

Baba called him the French Kevin Phillips. I fail to see how that's an insult, in his day Phillips was a lethal poacher. Having seen a bit of him, that's what this guy seems. We've needed that for a while

Yeah! Giroud! Woooohoo amazing! Let's all follow Henry Norris and be positive about a striker you've never actually seen play more than 3-4 times

Said this before and I'll say it again: Giroud really isn't very good. The quality attacking player in that Montpellier squad is Belhanda and that's who a serious manager would be going for. This reminds me of Wenger signing Gervinho from Lille when Hazard was stood next to him!

Mind you of course any player Wenger signs is bound to turn up top class. Now let's recall the last quality Ligue 1 striker Wenger signed... :rubchin:

I'll ask the same question I asked after he signed Park: if Giroud is so decent, why is there virtually zero competition for his signature, considering he's apparently the French Gerd Muller? I remember the clamour for Benzema when he left Lyon. Giroud seems to be interesting none of the big teams - why is that? The same reason Gervinho and Park interested none of the big teams? Who was the last quality striker the Arsenal scouting department signed? Wasn't it RVP? How long ago was that then? 2004 you said?!

I find it hilarious. This is a massive downgrade on RVP. It's like swapping an iPhone for a Mercury One to One. But Arsenal fans are so desperately deluded, they'll convince themselves Giroud and Poldi is an improvement; just as we didn't really need Nasri (hi Gervinho), just as Fabregas would be replaced by Ramsey (LOL), just as Adebayor could bugger off (how many years did it take to get RVP fit to replicate those goals?), just as we can't judge Park until he's kicked a ball etc etc

Giroud is good for a Montpellier. He's on Kevin Gameiro level.

Put him with the big boys and he's lost. FACT.

Still. Let's have this convo again next May ok? Happy to accept I'm wrong if he hits at least 20 league goals.

Oh stop with that. Its a nonsense argument and always has been.

Christ, give the lad a break, he's not kicked a ball for us yet. He may work out, he may not, we shall have to see. I did like the Kevin Phillips comparision though, as he was prolific at club level (30 league goals for the Mackems in '99/00) but gash at international level, which suits me as I care only for Arsenal.

IF (i know, I know) RvP stays then it could be an effective front line, although completely left-footed. Both Giroud and Podolski are at the business ends of their careers too, mid twenties, not kids so this is hopefully a push for experience over callow youth.

Giroud and indeed Podolski may turn out to be gash but at least it makes a change from Vela, B52, Chamakh and Super Quality Park - we are at least attempting to address some of the problems.

Anyway it matters not which personnel are on the team sheet while we still have no tactical gameplan and inflexible manager but I'll not get on the new additions backs until I've had time to form an opinion on them.
