You have to give it to Ronaldo he has proven his worth in more leagues than one. Messi is unreal but he needs to spread his wing away from the sunny SPL

Messi isn't a mercenary and actually I think that's a good thing.. :?
And don't forget he's been the top goalscorer in the CL for the 4th consecutive season so he has proven he can score against more than just spanish teams.
Only 24. He will be the greatest in the history of football at the end of his career.
Shame he never played for Ajax

How is ronaldo a mercenary? He won pretty much everything in England and moved on.

And the point about champions league ok but I'm not on about him scoring against the so called cream of Europe I'd like to see him do it in a cold January Monday night playing stoke or another of the break a leg bargade

Well you see we don't know how messi would be in that situation. My point is we do know what Ronaldo is like in both leagues but not Messi and that for me tips it in ronaldo's favor.

Amazes me that some folk still whip out the 'Stoke on a cold night' argument to try and dismiss Messi's credentials as the world's best.

Messi would fucking destroy Stoke's lumbering oafs all day (or should that be cold rainy night?) long. If he can totally mug off the best defenders in the world, imagine what he would do to Stoke's defenders.

Well you'll never know mate will you because he will never prove himself in another league and once again that for me tips in ronaldo's favor

Im sorry but what would shawcross and Huth be able to do better than Terry and Ivanovic?? :? If the argument is how strikes to Messi's ankle does it take before he starts limping, then we're not really talking about football are we.

My only gripe is the accusations that only Ronaldo is selfish. Watch messi there is plenty of times when players are in better positions and yet he elects to shoot and the shot is saved. Not too different to Ronaldo.

Ronaldo is an exceptional player, who gets a tough time in press because of his very conspicuous ego. Messi has an ego, buts its just less extravagant.

I really don't mind praising Ronaldo seeing as he had the confidence to leave utd for a bigger club. :-P

Look, Messi stays at "his" club (without them he wouldn't even be a professional football player) and imo that's a good thing. It's called loyalty. He has no reason to leave.. maybe City would pay him more but that's it.
And of course Stoke could do nothing. Why should they? Because they try to break his leg? Well Ramos and Pepe try it for some years and I don't think they fail because they are too soft  Messi can go past three, four or even more players and even if they are some of the worlds best.
It took me some time to admit it but in the end you have to. I mean he even broke Gerd Müllers goal scoring record.... and while he scores more goals than any player has ever scored you still won't find it easy to find a player who has more assists than Messi.

I wish people would stop concerning themselves with who is better between Messi and Ronaldo. I'm just happy I've lived in a generation where I got to watch and enjoy them. Both special players.

Lack of a quality CF could cost the Portugese. Postiga is very average and Hugo Almeida isn't all that either, and he should have opened the scoring last night, the rest of the payers were very wasteful.

My spanish should see off France, but could come unstuck against the Portugese. Pepe and Bruno Alves have been rocks at the back!

Ronaldo is better than Messi IMO, both are exceptional players but the ladyboy has proved himself at different clubs in different countries and has also done it at international level. Messi is a fair weather footballer surrounded by many other great players, he doesn't fair so well when playing for the argies.

I don't think ronny is a mercenary, many believe he moved to spain because that's where his long time (male) partner lives...no shame in that....simples
