Van Persie saga, officially not extending contract.

Chippy. In this day and age of a footy player chasing phenomenal wages, I do actually believe that RvP is content with what we has been offered for his next contract. I also believe that him being the club Captain is extremely important to him.
The signings of Podolski and potentially Giroud, are the least that he can ask of Le Prof and the board.
I also fully expect further signings in the coming weeks.

I really do have faith in RvP remaining with us.

Mate. If I am wrong, I shall go and support Leyton Orient. Honestly, I will be completely disillusioned.

I think g88ner, that the reason why frank and others (inc myself) are impatient for an announcement is cos smarmy ivan stated that talks had been held prior to the euro's but that both parties agreed that no announcement would be made until after the euro's - that in no uncertain terms seems to indicate that a decision has been made and seeing as rvp has been finished with the euro's for a week now why cant they just make the fcuking statement so everybody knows where we stand ? If no future talks are needed or planned then there is no reason for a delay surely ? As frank has intimated already, we have been stung too often in recent seasons by saga's of player departures being dragged out too long which has to upset team planning going into a new season so it isnt a huge stretch to feel cynical and wonder if these matters are dragged out until all season tickets, memberships and money making tours are concluded
Exactly, elaquently put as always Augie... just to add, it does make us look like a Mickey Mouse club when we do this sort of thing...

Its boring because we were told it would be sorted before the Euros and all the signs lead to.another drawn.out saga over a player that has had one good season and 7 injured ones.

He ain't bigger than the club, he's no Henry, Bergkamp, Pires, Wright, Adams etc, he.ain't earned the right to mess us around.

The fact is nobody is in for him really. Juventus are the only side and I can't see him going there.

The City thing seems just a paper rumour;with people making things fit. I can't say it would make much sense for them to pay through the nose for a player they will only get 1 maybe 2 more good seasons out of.

Are you kidding me??!!! They could afford to pay millions for someone they will get 6 months out of, money is nothing to them lot. They could buy players up just to stop their rivals getting them

Not really Flash. Mancini and the Chief Exec. have said they need to shift the wage bill by selling players. Hence Dzeko etc who they are looking to shift. Its not a case of blowing a load anymore. They have Aguero/Balotelli/Tevez already there, they simply do not need RVP. Its the same with most top clubs in Europe. At his age and the wages he would cost he's simply not worth it for the majority.

No coincidence that the same gullible posters who believed Cesc and Nasri would stay are the same ones who think RVP will stay. Wake ffs and join the real world, Arsenal are a "selling club"
The signing of Girioud should be the last proof for even the most optimistic of fan that RVP will be sold.
