Just what i thought no prizes for finishing 3rd or 4th what a novel idea,i wonder are they aware of this in the arsenal boardroom :rubchin:

yup. it's amazing the number of times if the 4th guy misses you lose. England were the same.

i'd say 3rd & 4th are the most important just because the 2nd or first is often missed.

crap game but nice to see ronaldo cry and Cesc still doing it. another three years and he'll be back to us

Ronaldo clearly wanted to steal the headlines by scoring the winning penalty. In theory it doesn't actually matter what order the pens are taken in if they would all score/miss regardless, but in reality had Portugal scored their first three after Spain missed the first they would have gone on to win it due to momentum I think.

Does anybody else think his free-kick tacking is hugely overrated? He scores some spectacular ones but I've never seen a player hit so many free-kicks off target, I can't think of anybody else who takes anywhere near as many from dangerous positions as him. For my money there are plenty more players (Larsson, Drogba and many more) who are far more consistent but whose set-piece abilities aren't talked up to the same extent despite probably being more of a threat (Larsson certainly is). Much like how Carlos dined out on that free-kick against France for his entire career (and beyond) despite not being particularly prolific.

Hate Spain hate Portugal for their cheating and diving ,hate to say it but if I could be bothered I'd back the Germans ..........but I wont be watching any games !

I agree with Herd   8)

I cannot stand the cheating Spanish. Nothing worse than talented players feeling they have to cheat to win. Spain are world champions alright, at Diving and feigning injury.
