now, much uglier, i'd add.

I really don't get this 'Arsenal plays beautiful football' thing. we clearly don't, haven't for the last two or three seasons

This. We play football now that lacks ideas, guts, creativity, cutting edge.

Germany generally know how to hold onto a lead.

Germany wouldn't of let a 4 goal lead slip.

Germany are generally considered a force.

Germany are well organised.

Germany have a manager who knows how to balance attack AND defence into a good, fluid system.

German fans look forward to big games and go into them with confidence.

Need I go on?...

Podolski was shit for Germany, hope that doesn't continue or the bloke could be the next Arshavin, come with a big reputation and big transfer fee, and be bombed out of the club within 2 years

I think the article makes a good point, namely the way we're waiting for this new generation of young talent of Germany/Arsenal talent to deliver but they simply don't have the nous to win big games. Italy and Spain are to Germany, what Man Utd and Chelsea have been to us for most of the last few seasons.

We have played attractive football since 2008 so yes the comparison does flatter us.

Bit harsh on Germany bearing in mind they have regularly made semis and finals, and that they were deprived of a Euros and WC final by an immense Spain team. We have (in theory) had 4 opportunities each year to win a trophy whereas they have one every 2 years, and we've actually got realistically near to winning very few in the past few years.

Very true. We even fluffed the carling cup. Let's just hope these new signings work out and get us challenging again
