Rangers situation

Post by jrthgooner »

Given our desperate need for a proper back up goalkeeper I wondered if anyone would fancy us taking a gamble and going to get Allan McGregor from Rangers?

He would at least be an excellent understudy and push Woj S to perform well and consistently as he is an excellent goalkeeper himself and if called upon would step in and perform.

Also he would likely be a free transfer or a nominal fee which for an international player who also has Champions League experience and has won medals in his domestic league (albeit Scotland) represents a good deal I think

A good deal but do you really see him wanting to come to us to be #2? At 30 he's too old to waste years on the bench but also not old enough to write himself off to being a back-up. Also, question marks over his attitude after his behaviour with Scotland?

McGregor? I'd rather Flappy stayed if that was the choice

We don't need/want anybody from that pub league.

It's not a bad shout because he's a decent keeper and he would certainly push Szczesny for the No 1 shirt but he has been in the shit with the national team quite a bit and I cant see AW wanting any part of that.
