I just think the announcement could have shown more respect for the club and no one here knows what actually went on but I would have thought this announcement is not in the best interest of The Arsenal but only in the best interest of RVP.
Phew thought it was me against the world

This I agree with partly. So far i was quite satisfied with our summer. We made two good signing. I thought that if we kept RvP, and added a few more signings, I would've been very satisfied of our summer business for the first time in a looooong time. But now that RvP is off (no way Arsene and his mates will let RvP's contract go to an end and not cash on him), it means that instead of a striker's order to be something like: 1rst. RvP/ 2nd. Giroud/ 3rd. Poldi we're heading towards 1rst. Giroud/ 2nd. Poldi/ 3rd. Chamack...
I'm sorry but as much as I rate Giroud, he's still unproven in PL and I can't believe arsene plans on making him our No 1 striker with so little experience he has...
May I remind all of you that two seasons ago, Giroud was playing in Ligue 2. He could turn out good like Kos did, but even for Kos who performs remarkably lately, it took him some time to get used to the PL...
Rvp will be replaced with another striker maybe Henry on a season loan

Laughing matter aside, you can say what you want, my biggest emotions lately with Arsenal was probably when TH12 scored his few goals. A rare moment of magic with Arsenal lately...

if he was really worried with the ambition of the team, come on, we just bought one established german attacker and the topscorer in france,
if he was upset about lack of quality alongside him i think that has to cease being an excuse - and wouldn't he prefer to win it at arsenal, where he poses with pictures as a kid, is the club captain, claims to be so thankful, and all that?

it's a shame, i honestly thought that with giroud, van persie, podolski and the ox we would have a good striking force next season. how fool of me - giroud was obviously van persie's replacement, not meant to play alongside him.

whoever expects us to sign llorente, falcao etc will probably be disappointed
Don't you think that maybe, just maybe RvP has a bit more football nous to him than worry about ATTACK, ATTACK ...ATTACK?

Maybe he was thinking about the pathetic goals we conceded last season with our defence and needed some confirmation on whether it's going to be sorted out this season? :?
He being our Captain and all that?

Nah Swimmer I agreed with you earlier as well.

I think he could have handled this better and he has gone down in my estimation because of it.

But I still disagree. In my humble opinion, RvP's annoucement is not in the best interest for the board, but in the best interest of Arsenal F.C in the long run...

I can understand where Van Persie is coming from, all players want to win things and if the board won't make that happen at Arsenal then I suppose a world class player would want to move on (despite the fact that some would say he owes Arsenal for sticking with him through all the injury ravaged seasons). Having said that I think his statement is a bit of a *word censored* trick, he's pretty much forced Arsenal to sell him this transfer window but he's done it without putting in a transfer request, meaning that he won't lose his loyalty payment, would have been refreshing to see him handle it differently but I suppose that's modern football

i think football is more complicated than that. we let too many goals in, agreed, but that does not necessarily mean we don't have good defenders, and i am hoping that bould can bring a bit of his quality as a defender to organize the side. i like our right backs, i like 3 of our centrebacks, and honestly, even though santos can't defend, i think he can improve at least a bit in that side of his game.

i remember when batistuta, one of the greatest strikers of his time, was asked why he spent 10 years at a club who didn't win a single thing (fiorentina), and he said: it's easy to win it with the big teams who always buy the best players, but if i managed to win something there, imagine how big that would be.

they made a fucking statue of him. i wish there were more footballers wishing stuff like that. i for once thought that maybe rvp would be the guy to bring our first trophy back :( maybe i'm just being bitter, but i can't help but feel that there is not much difference between him, ashley, adebayor... in the end, they want top money to spend with their families, it doesn't really matter which fans he is playing for, and showing respect back to the fans isn't really a priority...

I am not at all bothered about this issue.

Players come and go..

We thought Wrighty would not be replaced...
We thought Henry would not be replaced...

Now we have Podolski and Giroud to replace RvP

Could be worse!

And with the signing of M'Vila (or a decent DM), Clint Dempsey and Craig Gordon I would be happy with the summer dealings.

Thing is this

RvP has been great but I'd have a player like Wrighty over him every day of the week.....goals will flow this season just you see....and not in our net
