Are there any positives?
Firstly, I am in no way defending the boards decision in failing to meet RVP's demands. We all know our club is showing little ambition and that our status as a 'big' club continues to be eroded every summer transfer window. Wenger/Gazidis should be the ones leaving not our main striker and captain. His impact not only on the pitch but also off it has been incredible for team morale this season and for once the Arsenal side wasn't littered by egos but by a group of players who actually got along. RVP undermining the club on such an unprecedented public level could have a disastrous impact upon the players already at the Club especially the young ones such as Wilshere, Ramsey and Walcott who must surely think that if the Club isn't meeting RVP's demands then they surely aint meeting theirs causing further unrest.
We have all seen the failings and errors of both manager and executives in both transfer policy, contract errors and coaching inadequacy yet we are stuck with the Club through loyalty and have to watch this boardroom negligence continue and sadly there is nothing we can do to stop it!
However... as I'm unbelievably pissed off at the Club regressing further RVP has one long contract left in him at this stage of his career. His injury record has been pretty much abysmal up until January 2011 and onwards where he miraculously stayed fit and we saw his best form. Was a 4 year contract on £150K a week too much of a risk for a player his age and with his previous injuries? The only way the Club can benefit from today's watershed moment is if every penny of the reported £20M plus further unspent money from previous transfers in spent on a marquee signing which shows this club means business and ensures the board don't continue to cheat the fans and the clubs history.
Unfortunately, I fear today is the day I look back on as the catalyst for Arsenals final plummet.

Let's be honest, we have had "greater" players come and go, but today does seem like the final nail in our coffinElliotGooner wrote: Unfortunately, I fear today is the day I look back on as the catalyst for Arsenals final plummet.

Positives?
We can turn this into a positive of sorts if we get a good fee and replace RVP with a decent striker.
We can turn this into a positive if we use the money to fill the gaps in the squad;
Left back?
Two goalkeepers?
Defensive midfielder?
Centreback?
We can turn this into a positive by not letting key players run their contract down to a year, but maintaining a balance whereby squad players are not put on very long contracts at high wages.
My guess is RvP leaving will be a catalyst for fans to back Usmanov.

Re: Are there any positives?
i think it's the same as always.
we lost our best player, we signed some possibly good ones, we'll probably get one or two from the youth team... other teams like liverpool will spend a lot of cash on shit players, spurs will still be spurs...
i don't expect much to change because we lost our key player many times before and never dipped too much because of that, even with better players than rvp like henry, dennis, pires, vieira, adams. wenger hasn't been able to build a side capable of winning something for a long while, but even this piss poor team of the start of last season managed to recover well enough to finish third.
it would take a very good manager to build a better team than man city with our budget - of course i'm all for trying that, dortmund and montpellier just proved it is possible to beat richer teams - but with wenger and this policy of spending small what it seems to me is we get what we pay for - a good enough team to entertain at times, struggle against the very top teams, but anyway manages to stay high up in the league table. with more luck, we may even win a cup or something, and worst case scenario, we still play champions league.
of course that's not as ambitious as i would want (and i'm sure most here), but i guess nothing will really change. i'm just sitting back and not worrying too much about it.

As much as I fucking hate Pardew, he did a lot on a budget. I don't think Wanger has the same "abilities" any more.
Maybe our positives should be aimed at the gic leaving.

Re: Are there any positives?
Maybe we might revert back to 4-4-2
Chesney
Sagna
Gibbs
Koscielny
Vermaelen
Walcott/Oxlade Chamberlin
Wilshere
Song
New Left Winger/Santos
Podolski
Giroud
Plus any new potential signings
Or maybe not?

Re: Are there any positives?
It's not about money RVP says. They haven't even discussed money according to him, it's about Arsenals lack of ambition.

Re: Are there any positives?
No positives just the final act in the demise of Arsenal. Great day for all the Spurs fans out there.
Mind you I have the DVDs of when we were great. Just have to watch them.

Positives? None.Another summer our best player leaves.Groundhog day. There will not be any positives till Wenger and Kroenke leave. And what matters is on the pitch comes first not the balance sheet

Re: Are there any positives?
Of course there is one positive. Andy Murray is a Gooner.
There is no obvious positive to be derived from selling our good players year on year. This malaise will continue for as long as Kroenke is at our club, bleeding us dry. The same people towing the line should hang their heads in shame.

People need to calm down. It's not the end of the bloody world.

positives?
Losing Van Persie might convince his mate Theo to jump ship too?
Another positive... perhaps Alex Song won't think "chip pass to RvP" every single time he gets the ball?

Another positive... no more "who needs Batman..." banner at the grove? Never liked it, sorry

Re: Are there any positives?
Positives. This may force other players to step up and take responsibilities instead of hiding behind Robin.
Someone will step up, they always do.
Can't believe I'm saying it but maybe Wallcot will get his wish to play through the middle and it will be him.or Arshavin will slot in behind Giroud and become the player we signed.
Someone will be elevated.
