Yeah, Mike's rule book is a little too biblical for my liking :? took me a few reads to get my head around it, and if I'm being honest, I'm still not entirely sure when inflicting incurable boils on a forum member is the correct course of action.

Which reminds me, if anyone feels I went a little OTT when sending a plague of locusts over to frankbutcher's house, then let me know :o - but personally, I think on this occasion my modding was spot on 8)

20 Million +

I think the club should sell him this summer as I would prefer a guy who wants to play for the club.
I also think the club needs to get out of the cycle of selling to our nearest rivals  :( like Shitty or Manure who I think will be in for him. It is never good business to strengthen our nearest rivals and I would prefer is we took 10 million from Juve or PSG than see him signing for anyone in the PL.

A. He wants it. You don't pick modding. Modding picks you.
B. He's a bald bastard. And verily it doth be written; "Though shalt not suffer a bald bastard to moddeth thine forum, lest thy home be filleth with plague".

Point A. Wearing the same spectacles as Le Prof there mate. Not being able to see a good thing when it slaps you in the kisser, or being reluctant to acknowledge that you are wrong?

I think I'm the first to say 'make him see out his contract'.
I think we're at a tipping point as a club. Cesc going could be excused as he is a Barcelona boy, although it seems widely accepted that he did want the club to 'match his ambition'. Nasri was a half-season wonder who was chasing the money, but if RvP goes I think it is the biggest statement that, as a club, we do not have the same ambition as the top players and other 'top' players will choose to leave or not join.
I'm sure RvP would love a massive pay deal, but I don't think it's his overriding motivation. If we keep him it at least suggests that we want to keep our top players and that money isn't everything and we will be a better team with him in the squad (in fact we will have a lot of options up front). We'll be more likely to have a good season and thereby be able to retain and attract better players and he may change his mind. Failing to qualify for the CL would cost a lot more than we'd get from selling RvP.
Also, who would he go to? Barca probably can't afford him and would play him out wide. Madrid may be a possibility but they already have a big squad. manure are desperate for a player of his calibre but their midfield shortcomings are more pressing and I'm sure Citeh would love to add him to their 12 other strikers but would have to give him assurances, Italy is no longer as attractive and has plenty of problems.
If he does go I'd rather it was abroad but I think he should see out his contract.

He has to be sold now. He wants to go. There is no point whatsoever in keeping an employee who does not want to work for you, in any business. We won't get more than 17m I don't think because of his age/history. There may be a club willing to spend that sum to get the jump on someone else. If we keep RVP for this last season, he's free to talk to other clubs in January so we could have the prospect where he's a Citeh player in an Arsenal shirt for several months......no thank you!!
RVP himself states that contract terms and money were not even discussed. I believe him, not the club in all this. Our football club has zero ambition to win trophies, it's all about profit. If Wenger was any kind of a man he would stand up to the board and give them an ultimatum of invest or I'm off......but we all know he's far too happy with his enormous, over inflated salary and free reign to run the club how he sees fit. It's a dream job for Wenger and Gazidis, shit loads of cash in your pocket each month and no accountability. Lovely. :banghead:

£10-£15M.

Based on

It's a dilemma because City will pay more than anybody else, probably £20+m, but as if the situation wasn't bad enough selling him to the PL champions would be a disaster (unless he manages to pick up one of his long-term injuries early on). Otherwise I imagine Barca would be his preferred destination but I for one do NOT want another summer with every Barca player under the sun coming out saying how he'd fit in great there and should go there, and they won't pay anywhere near as much as City would.

I would love to make him see out his contract because he is a world class player and despite what his statement says he signed a contract to play for AFC for another year, but it would be cutting off our nose to spite our face.
