THE BOARD - Kroenke, Usmanov and Finance

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Re: Alisher Usmanov criticises Arsenal board

Not a chance in hell that the letter was written overnight.
That letter is just well timed political manoeuvring designed to cash on on RVP's statement.
I find it interesting however that there is no criticism of Wenger and whether that is his true feelings or not, or being guided by DD I do not know.

The Cold Letter smacks of real incompetence from IG :banghead:

I do find it disgusting that The Arsenal are talked about in this way in the press, which was surely his goal, although it's not unexpected.

Because discontent only happens when you decide.

Looking here, other forums, Twitter & message boards the current situation with the board and Red & White has already divided opinion with fans.

Not really.
I'm struggling to see how Usmanov actually owns over 50% of Megafon as stated in the letter.

I've seen that he has 8% of shares in Megafon via his own company called AF telecoms. AF also have a further 23% of shares via telecominvest. That's only 31% and not his personal shares either.

Regardless of this, and I'm not trying to back Gazidis up, but playing devils advocate how do we really know a call was made?
Is this an attempt to destabilise the club and Gazidis? Put him in the corner for Hill-Wood and Co to sack?
Even if they do back him, I'm sure this will plant the seed of doubt.

"So what is Red & White's vision for the Club? It is simple. A debt free Club, with a big enough war chest to buy top talent players who can hit the ground running and who can complement the Club's long tradition of developing young players and homegrown talent. Together they can help the Club win the most prestigious trophies — because it is the trophies which are the crowning achievement for everybody at the Club"

Surely this is exactly the same strategy already in place? What else of benefit or new ideas are they proposing to do? This letter is just a lot of hot air in my opinion.
No it isn't. The current strategy is to buy average cheap players and hope Wenger works his magic with them and that they together will lead the club to a 4th or maximum 3rd place finish in order for the board to pocket the CL cash and continue it's self sustainable model and maximise profits to the full by selling a star player(s) every year.

Just to say that I was never in the anti usmanov brigade and as time has gone on I have been more and more pro usmanov 8) However I would also add that, while this letter is all well and good, it really needs to be followed up with real action. In this regard it is really really fortunate for the club that this has kicked off in the summer cos if this happened during a season (esp during a run of poor results/performances) then the shit would really hit the fan. The club now has 6 weeks to make real inroads into the strong tide of opposition to the current regime - the only way this can happen is if they show real intent by buying real quality and/or getting rvp to sign a new deal cos anything less (and I include getting walnut to sign a new deal) just will not stem the tide of anger amongst the Gooner faithful. To be honest I can foresee trouble ahead at the first game of season v mackems as fans waste no time in telling the c**ts running the club what they think of them and god forbid we lose or even go behind in that game cos if that happens then Sammy and the rest of the stewards will have their hands full

Maybe your right Block.
I would have thought that if Usmanov put that in the letter he would be factually correct.
If it transpires that he is not correct in his accusation about ''IG's Col Letter'' and his shareholding of Megafon then his credibility will be questioned as it's just a bare faced lie and meant to discredit IG. Not the type of thing you would do if you really want a seat on the Board.
Who Knows :?

Arsenal fan: "Cashley/Clichy/Adebayor/Nasri/RVP are money grabbing crunts for leaving the club"

Same Arsenal fan: "Let's get in Usmanov - he's got billions"

No I didn't think he would lie about it as it would have backfired on him in a bad way.

Yes I had seen the info on Wiki but we all know how reliable that site is!
That's fairly recent change - Do we know when this call was supposedly made?

It will all be revealed in the coming days I'm sure.

What we know for now is that Gazidis is fucked, so let's bask in his misery. 8)
