The reason I ask is because Cisse has shown that if you are clinical then you can hit the ground running in this league, he will get plenty of chances that's for sure and the confidence will come if he can.put them.away.
If he's wasteful like Bendtner then it will be a long season.

Re: Welcome to The Arsenal, Olivier Giroud
No no the quality is there for sure. The only thing that worries me is that basically, since we're almost getting ridd of RvP, we're asking from Giroud to hit the ground running from his very first apparition. That's a lot to ask from a guy who was playing in Ligue 2 two seasons ago...
If it doesn't work he could quickly have his confidence shot to pieces, and then we'll be in biiiiiig trouble...

I mean we've seen it with Torres. Even one of the finnest strikers in the world, if he doesn't have confidence... well...

Nope, both had no PL experience. We didn’t know how either would turn outarseofacrow wrote:Took you long enoughDarylAFC wrote:Nice to see people missed my point completely, labelling me an AKB.![]()
As I say, you don't know how he'll be. He could be shit. He could be great. How on earth do you know? I'm starting to think some of you just love a moan and to slate players off, even before they play![]()

Do you see a problem with using Henry as comparison?
Oh right misread what you meantDB10GOONER wrote:I should point out that my comment wasn't really aimed at you Daryl, it was more a light hearted jab at the more brainwashed AKB's that actually do come out with statements like "Bergkamp was nothing before Wenger made him great".DarylAFC wrote:Nice to see people missed my point completely, labelling me an AKB.![]()

For what it's worth I agree totally we should never write off a knew signing without watching them play in the PL for Arsenal. Some players arrive being viewed as average and the PL suits them and they become stars - some arrive as stars and the PL does not suit them and they get (wrongly in most cases) viewed as average or shit. The PL is a tough league to make it in. It's faster and with more contact than most European leagues.

We've signed so many unproven players in the past. Some have turned out good, some have been, well, Chamakhs

While I don't agree with Wenger, I do like the fact we buy unproven players, but they must be balanced with experienced talent. Sadly, we don't have that these days.
Re: Welcome to The Arsenal, Olivier Giroud
If giroud is given a run of games then im sure he will be a success, which is why it is imperative to get rid of Van persie asap and bed in the players who are actually going to be sticking around. Look how chamakh turned out when he was given a run of games in his first season before he was dropped. He looked lively, his confidence was sky-high, he chased everything and more importantly was scoring goals regularly. Just goes to show you important a good run of games is required to get the best out of a player, I just hope Giroud is given the same run of games from the start of the season to ensure he has the best possible start to his Arsenal career. Even Chamakh if he could sort out his mental state and took the same attitude he had at the start then I would consider giving him a 2nd chance in an Arsenal shirt.
