Can't believe Denilson has been loaned out again - are Sao Paolo even paying his full £50-60k a week wages? I doubt it.
This is a player who Wenger liked so much that he played him over 150 times!!! and no fucker wants him. Terrible signing, and the fact he managed to get a contract extension out of us is incredible.
Anything Denilson is costing Arsenal should come directly out of Wenger's £6-7m a year contract, because quite frankly he's screwed the club over on that one.
And I'd be amazed if we find a buyer for Squillaci either. Surely he'll end up being loaned out for a year or 2 until his contract expires and then leave through the back door like Almunia

Who was it we didn't buy cos it might have "killed" Denilson?

Probably Xabi Alonso
Yep, just wanted someone else to say it.
Whatever happened to that guy?
In fairness, it all worked out in the end - Real Madrid got Alonso, and we got Alex Song

what the press are saying (which as usual could be bullshit) is that they weren't on the last deal, but arsenal made clear that he'd only be loaned again if they paid his full wages.
and i have to say he looked like a promising player up to 2009, at least in my views. when we moved to 4-3-3, he became completely useless on the pitch and even his short sideways passing became flawed and his defensive awareness exposed. i have no clue why we insisted with him after that...

Good to have you back, BG
I just find it inconceivable that Wenger and the coaches could have worked with Denilson every day for years and then, with all the evidence in the world that he's actually pretty shite, would reward him with such a lengthy and lucrative contract that would make him pretty much unsaleable if and when we wanted to sell him in the future.
It's the same shit with Almunia... why, after seeing how shit he really was, did Wenger offer him such a lucrative contract?
In both cases, we can't get rid. Almunia was loaned out and then left out of the squad until his contract ran out, and it looks like Denilson is going the same way. It's insane.
I can accept signing players and realising they're rubbish (i.e. Chamakh) but to actually sign a player, realise he's rubbish, play him for over 100 games and then offer him an amazing contract is unforgivable.

Welcome to the wild and wacky world of Arsene Wenger!

only two options come to my mind: a) wenger owes something to denilson's family or b) wenger thought that the fact that he was very promising when younger and had a decent season and a half in the 2008 era, meant that his bad 'run of form' only meant he was going to be a late developer, one of those holding midfielders who only start playing really well after a lot of first team experience...
but still, it is hard to explain. why we kept almunia all this time is beyond me.
